Gaguritan Ratu Gede Mecaling, Karangasem, I (2007)

Below document is a narrative poem, probably based on one of the versions of the (Babad) Dukuh Jumpungan, originally written on lontar leaves. This gaguritan or 'kidung' is recited by the 'pewacen' during the Odalan of Pura Panataran Ped, when Rangda is 'diistanakan', i.e. given a place or 'palace' within the temple, by the dukun in the Mrajan temple at Ped, explains Nyoman Usana at Goa Gala-Gala, Lembongan.

The first version of this poem seems to be 'Gaguritan Ratu Gede Mecaling, Karangasem I. According to this document, the original text (lontar?) is/was with I Ketut Kari (2006), Banjar Bias, Abang, Karangasem. It mentions that the document was transliterated by I Wayan Dresta, S Pd, Amlapura and subsequently copied on computer in June 2007 by Ida I Dewa Gde Catra, a renowned Balinese man of letters in Amlapura, Karangasem, Bali.

Nyoman Usana composed another version in 1995, or perhaps adapted the Karangasem I version, which he called 'Geguritan Ratu Gede Mecaling, Pepatih Dalem Nusa'. In below table the two versions are given. As they are virtually identical, the original Balinese version mentions differences in brackets (Usana's version). Tapes of the recitation of Usana's Geguritan are for sale in Bali and are very popular in Nusa Penida.

Besides these two versions, a third version was found in a shop on mainland Bali, written by 'M.Oka ca', which could mean 'by Made Oka (?) cum suis'. This version has additional explanations in Balinese, recited by the 'peneges' or 'pengartos', someone who explains the poem in more understandable language to the people gathered in and around the temple (not given below). A fourth anonymous version was also found called 'Geguritan Babad Nusa'. Again, when compared, here are only slight differences in wording and rhyme between them.

To establish which of these texts is the original version of this narrative poem is nearly impossible. These gaguritan are 'alive' and have been used for decades, if not more. Additions were made and the text was altered according to the writer's preferences and religious views. However, it would seem that the most original version (without date) would once have been in the hands of I Ketut Kari. Whatever the case, all four versions are available in pdf format.

The translation into Indonesian is partly taken from Ni Kadek Susilawati's thesis (2009) on the religious educational value of Usana's version of the poem (refer to sources below), and partly done by I Nyoman Usana and his son Komang Erawan. English translation by Godi Dijkman.

(2) Dalem Sawang ya ta kocap, jumeneng ring Nusa Mundi, putran Hyang Betari Uma, marupa danawa sakti, wong samar patihnya sami, sangkan bala samar liyu, I Réngansané ngranayang, manusa sakti tan sipi, malih ngamuk, maprejaya nusantara. Sekarang yang diceritakan adalah Dalem Sawang, tinggal di daerah Nusa Mundi/Nusa Penida, Beliau adalah putra Batari Uma, dengan berperawakan Denawa yang sakti, sedangkan manusia mirip raksasa sebagai mahapatih beliau, keberadaan banyaknya manusia mirip raksasa, karena I Renggan penyebabnya, manusia yang sakti tak terkalahkan, semua ingin meluapkan rasa marahnya, dan ingin mengalahkan wilayah nusantara. This is the story of King Sawang, who lived in Nusa Mundi (Nusa Penida). He was the son of goddess Uma, and he was like a Denawa (ugly giant) with special spiritual qualities (sakti), and his chief minister was a true giant of a man. Renggan was his name, and he was the cause man could not be defeated. He wished to leash out his anger and defeat the entire area (nusantara).
(3) Mangun palwa ring samudra, makulit wsi wresani, dahat hagung kabinawa, hangob hyang déwata sami, ngaksi Renggan pinih luwih, playaré mangkin di (i) prahu, lampahé mengider bhwana, hasing babar basmi mangkin, mangelantur. Bali Dwipané harepang. Dia membuat perahu di laut, berkulit besi baja, terlalu besar dan berwibawa, tercenganglah para dewa sekalian, karena melihat Renggan mempunyai kesaktian yang luar biasa, sekarang perjalanan tujuan perahu itu melanjutkan, apa yg ditempuh semua sirna, dia menghadap ke pulau Bali. He constructed a proa at sea made out of steel, really too big and pretentious. All the gods were dumbfounded, as they saw that Renggan possessed such extraordinary spiritual power, the proa set sail for the island of Bali where everything would be destroyed.
(4) Saking kidul mangutara, kahaksi ring Hyang Tohlangkir, nunas kanti ring Hyang Indra, mangda ida ngalugrahin, Mrejaya (I) Rengan mangkin, Hyang Indrangalugra sampun, mangda tan Bali pralaya, mangastawa Hyang Tohlangkir, tur kepastu, manglimpung prahu dadakan (nadak). Dari selatan ke utara, dilihat oleh Batara Tohlangkir di Gunung Agung, meminta pertolongan peda Batara Indra, supaya beliau memberikan restu, untuk mengalahkan I Renggan, yang sudah diberikannya, supaya Bali tak hancur, dia sudah berdoa, dan dikutuk, perahu terbalik seketika. From south to the north, god Tohlangkir at Mount Agung witnessed these events and asked god Indra to grant his blessings to defeat Renggan, and his wish was granted, so Bali would not be destroyed. Renggan prayed but was cursed, and the proa was overturned in an instant.
(5) Palwanya dadi sila, Nusa Ceningan wyakti (yuwakti), layarnya Nusa Lémbongan, ika pamurwaning nguni, hapan Renggan sampun kampih, rawuh  bendégané hañud, svu (syu) limang hatus sinamyan, saksana maring Byas Muntig, pada nuju, pasayuban sowang-sowang. Perahunya menjadi batu, Nusa Ceningan tiada lain, bidak perahunya berubah menjadi Nusa Lembongan, begitulah veritanya dulu, sebab I Renggan sekarang sudah hanyut, begitu pula para nelayan yang ikut semua hanyut, seribu lima ratus semuanya, seketika sampai di Bias Muntig, setelah sadar, semua mencari tempat berteduh. His proa turned into stone and became Nusa Ceningan, and the sail became Nusa Lembongan. This was the story of old, as Renggan was thrown overboard together with all the 500 sailors. And instantly they were washed up on Bias Muntig beach. After they realised what happened, they looked for shelter.
(6) Kagyat Dalem Sawang ñingak, mapikayun mengandapin, kasapa dadi wong samar, tan pasankan tyos warni, rupa krura syung lungid, hasing ngeton jrih sampun, Renggan ngrak sabala samar, Dalem Sawang lingnya haris, mahi malu, jani cahi ngabih nira. Terkejut Dalem Sawang menyaksikan, bermaksud menundukkan, dipastu menjadi manusia setengah raksasa, tidak terasa sudah berubah warna, rupa angker bertaring, setiap orang melihat ketakutan, Renggan itu menjadi pemimpinnya, Dalem Swang berkata, ke sini dulu, sekarang kamu menjadi bawahanku. King Sawang, who witnessed these events, was shocked. He wished to defeat but was cursed to become half giant, and instantly changed colour, with giant fangs, awesomly fearful and holy (angker). All were afraid of him. Renggan became his leader, and King Sawang said: come hither, for you will be my servant.
(7) Pinaka pepatih Nusa, pang manut tingkah pepatih (mematih), tan bina wana lan singa, padha ngawé rena hati, tingkahing danawa sakti, bebasané padha manut, hiwak jadmané uttama, patut cahi ngawé gring, grubuk hagung, Désa Pakramané pucukang. Sebagai pasukan Nusa, supaya menyesuaikan keinginan raja, ibaratkan hutan dan singa, semua punya keinginan baik, karena peradaban budaya keraksasaan yang sakti, santapan supaya menyesuaikan, terutama daging manusia, semestinya kamu membuat wabah, gering besar, yang utamalah adalah masyarakat di desa. Part of the Nusa Army were to fulfil the king's wishes, intimately befriended like a lion at ease in the forest. All had the best of intentions, given the spiritual culture and civilisation, like a meal to everyone's desire, especially human flesh. You should bring about an epidemic, large-scale vomit and diarrhoea, the village inhabitants are the main victims.
(8) Sahur manuk bala samar, singgih ratu kadi mangkin, tityang sadya mamarekan, ring Ida sang prabhu sakti, hasing kayun katampénin, sadéra tityang lumaku, ñatur désa Bali Dwipa, ngawé gring ngutah mising, padha lampus, kahatur ring Dalem Sawang. Semua setuju rasa gembira, ampun tuanku sekarang, saya bersedia untuk menghamba kepada tuanku raja, semua pendapat raja sudah terpenuhi, sesegera mungkin saya pergi, anak buahnya di semua desa menyebar di Bali membuat penyakit mutaber, semua mati, semua mayat diberikan kepada Dalem Sawang. All of the people attending agreed in unison. Forgive me my Lord, now I am willing to serve you, and your wish is my command. I'll be on my way now and the servants will spread the vomiting and diarrhoea epidemic in all the villages. Everybody will die, and the corpses will be delivered to King Sawang.
Pupuh Ginada    
Bala samar padha girang, ngaturang ratu upeti, layon (Iwak) manusa tan lyan, maheñjekan (megenjekan) padha hadung, nginum twad (tuak) tan rérénan, jegat jegit (jengat-jengit), kadi iwanara rukem. Semua wong samar merasa gembira dan memberikan hasil karyanya berupa daging manusia, hanya daging mayat yang diberikan, dia gembira sambil minum sepuas-puasnya, minum tuak tiada hentinya, senyum-senyum dan tertawa, seperti kerah yang mabuk. All the ethereal beings (the 500 sailors) felt pleased and offered the result of their doings in the form of human flesh from corpses, and ate and drank to their heart's desire, they smiled and laughed like drunken monkeys.
(1) Sambilang ngalungin basang, padha ngigel mangilehin, hapan lega mangranayang, mabunga bahan paparu, masengkuhub (masekuub) jajaringan, mahanting-hanting -/-  ungsilané /63/ mahuttama. Serta pakai usus manusia dipakai kalung, dia menari-nari berputar-putar, karena kegembiraannya, paru-paru dipakai bunga, buikvlies (jajaringan) dipakai kerudung, lever itu dipakai anting-anting. For the entrails were used as necklaces, they danced round and round as they were overjoyed, the lungs were used as flowers, the peritoneum was used as a head scarf and the liver was used as earrings.
(2) Mangkin Rengan ya ta kocap, marabyan ring Ni Mrahim, maputra I Gotra nunggal, mayoga ring Pasir Muñjul, pangastawané Watubya, sangkan sakti, Hyang Rudra (Ludra) Murti ñekala. Sekarang diceritakan I Renggan mengambil istri bernama Ni Mrahim, berputra I Gotra seorang diri, bersemadi di Pasir Munduk, baktinya dilakukan di kawasan Watuhya, itulah sebabnya sakti, Hyang Ludra memberi anugrah. Now it was told that Renggan married Mrahim, and begat a son named Gotra, who meditated at Pasir Muntik and Watubiha. This is the reason he became spiritually powerful, and the god Ludra gave his blessings.
(3) Ganggas krura syung (siyung) rénggah, soca nelik mabulu hélik, maha patih Ratu Nusa, sakti kabinawa kasub, Ratu Gdé Macaling ngaran, tur kasudi, mangisyan bala samar. Tinggi besar rupanya galak dan taringnya besar dan melengkung, matanya melotot berbulu ijuk yg besar, diberikan kekuasan memimpin bala/wong samar. He was big and fearsome, with large curved fangs, protruding eyes, covered in thick and harsh hair, and he was given the power to rule the wong samar. (NB. ijuk yg besar = grove feathure structure, like the feathers of the casuaris)
(4) Dalem Sawang mangandika, nah né paman Gdé Macaling, lumakwa paman makéjang, jagat Baliné pamucuk, nunas icha (ica) ring Hyang Durgha, mangda hasih, mangrusak Bali Dwipa. Dalem Sawang bersabda: engkau paman Gede Macaling, pergilah paman sekalian, daerah Bali diutamakan, minta restu kepada Batari Durga supaya diijinkan mengusak-asik Pulau Bali. King Sawang spoke: Gede Macaling, all of you must be on your way to Bali to beseech goddess Durga for her blessings to obliterate the island of Bali.
(5) Bala samaré mangatag, watek léyak desti (nesti) lwih, grubug agung tan pegatan, garjita manah I Larung (Rarung), Lenda Lendi Wotsirsa (waksirga), sareng sami, tan mari I Jaran (Jarang) Guyang. Semua wong samar mengundang semua leak berbuat black magic, tak ada henti-hentinya penyakit merajalela, gembiralah hati I Larung, anak buahnya Lenda, Lendi dan Wotsirsa semua gembira, termasuk I Jaran Guyang. The wong samar invited all the witches to perform black magic, and the epidemic knew no limits, and Larung (Lenda's child) was very content indeed. Lendi and Wotsira were very happy, and so was Jaran Guyang.
Pupuh Durma    
Tan caritha pangrusak bala samar, mangkin Bhatara Tohlangkir, dahat erang Ida, tlangkah (tingkah) Dalem Sawang Nusa, hapan ngawé gring mati (pati), mahawanan (mahawanang), kayun maprajaya gelis. Tidak diceriterakan wong samar mengrusak, sekarang diceritakan Batara Tohlangkir, beliau merasa marah, tentang prilaku Dalem Sawang, karena dia selalu membuat wabah dan banyak korban jiwa, maka beliau ingin mengalahkan Dalem Sawang sesegera mungkin. The wong samar continued their mission, and now it was told that god Tohlangkir became very angry about King Sawang's behaviour as he had spread the terrible epidemic and many people had died. So he wished to defeat King Sawang as soon as he could.
(1) Raris ngambil padang kasna saha puja, susti (musti) krana kadulurin, tan pasamodana, pijil (mijil) sangkakung harja, maprabhawa lintang lewih (luwih), wus jajaka, Dalem (Bungkut) Dukut haran (ngaran) iki. Kemudian mengambil rumput kasna terus dipuja dengan mantra sandi, menyatukan sikap yang penuh religius, seketika itu, keluarlah anak laki yang tampan, yang punya taksu, vibrasi tinggi, setelah dia remaja dia diberikan nama Dalem Dukut (= bahasa Jawa Kuno, rumput adalah dukut; Bahasa Bali: dukut = padang). He then took 'kasna grass' and offered it prayers and mantras, in a religious way. Instantly, out came a handsome boy with mysterious powers, and high vibration. When he was an adult, he was called King Dukut (Old Javanese: 'dukut' = grass; Balinese: 'dukut' = field)
(2) Hyang Tohlangkir pawuwusané sadha banban, duh Déwa Dukut jani (nejani), bapa manitahang, cening (ngadag) jurit ring Nusa, marupa danawa sakti, ngaran Sawang, ngawé byuh (byah) paraning bhumi (gumi). Batara Tohlangkir bicaranya halus manis dan lamban, sekarang engkau anakku dukut, ayah memerintahkan kamu, untuk mengangkat perang ke Nusa, musuh kamu adalah raksasa yang sakti. God Tohlangkir spoke refinedly and softly: now, I order you, sweet child of mine, to go to war to Nusa, and your enemy is the sakti giant.
(3) Iki duhung (duwung) Ratna Keñncana ngaranya, patuk manuk déwata twi, hanggon maprajaya, maténin (ngamet) pramana I Sawang, yan sampun ngémasin mati (pati), wnang (wenang) déwa, di Nusa madeg bhupati. Ini adalah Keris yang namanya Ratna Kencana, berasal dari paruh burung Garuda di surga sesungguhnya, dipakai untuk mengalahkan dan untuk mencabut nyawa Dalem Sawang, kalau dia sudah meninggal, seyogiannya kamu menjadi raja di Nusa. This is the kris called Ratna Kencana, originated from the beak of Garuda truly in heaven. It is to be used to defeat and kill King Dalem. When he dies, of course you shall become the king of Nusa.
(4) Uduh Déwa Dukut (pang) yatna (yatnya) ring raga, dumadak sidha kahapti, mucehang imurka, pang tan momoné nglimbah, sad guna hanggon matindih, asta brata, gaglaran (gagelaran) sang bhupati. Anakku Dewa (dewa: anak kesayangan) Dukut supaya siap siaga engkau membawa diri (yakin, pasti), semoga berhasil harapanmu untuk menghancurkan sifat murka, agar jangan sifat murka itu menyebar di dunia ini, enam guna itu (enam faedah: sandi, wigraha, yana, sesana, seraya, dwesa) itu perlu kamu bela dirimu, delapa brata (eight leadership qualities: surya brata, candra brata, yama brata, indra brata, bayu brata, ageni brata, kwerabrata, barunabrata) ajaran sifat raja. My darling child Dukut, you should be certain to have the victory for your future, and destroy his furious nature, so that his actions no longer spreads the six 'feadah' in this world. So you should defend yourself remembering the eight leadership qualities (brata) of a true king.
Pupuh Ginada    
Singgih ratu sasuhunan, swéca Bhatara mangkin, mogi tityang kadikjayaan, molihing (molihang) sané rahayu, ring madyaning rananggana, jaya sakti, ngandapang satru (satrya) wisésa. -/- Ya Tuhan Yang Maha Kuasa, semoga engkau murah hati memberikan kami kerajaan, mendapatkan yang terbaik di tengah-tengah peperangan menjadi jaya, menegakkan dharma ksatria. Oh Lord, may you be merciful, and give us richness, to get the best of full war in order to be victorious, and to uphold the ways of the ksatria.
/64/ (1) Déwa Dukut hdha (eda) marma, Sang Hyang Tri Purusa Sakti, déwa maring (manjing) mañjinga (maring) sira, pragayang Sang Hyang Manu, Jaya nuraga maring rat, maha lewih, moksartan jagat ditaya. Wahai kamu Dalem Dukut, jangan kamu ragu, Sanghyang trisakti (Brahma, Wisnu, Iswara), memasuki semua ragamu, beliau sebagai Hyang Tunggal, memperoleh kejayaan di alam ini, yang utama, semua dunia akan damai. Yes, King Dukut, don't you worry, the Holy Trinity of Brahma, Wisnu and Iswara will enter your body, and they will act as one in order to succeed in this world, and all will be peaceful.
(2) Lumaku cening ka Nusa, don tehep iki lingihin, playaré maring jaladya, tan caritayang maring hnu (henu), sampun rawuh ring pasisi, Nusa mangkin, sami pañjaké mañagjag Berangkatlah kamu ke nusa, daun taru tahap ini pakai tempat dudukmu, perjalanannya di tengah lautan, tak diceritakan dalam perjalanan, sudah sampai di pinggir pantai, Nusa sekarang, semua rakyat mendekati. Now take leave to Nusa, and use this 'tarap' leaf as the place where you sit down, the voyage crosses the oceans. And then he arrived at the beach of Nusa, and he was welcomed by all of the people.
(3) Wong Nusané manunasang, sira sang bagus puniki, mahawinan rawuh ring Nusa, Dalem Dujur (Dukut) semu halus, nira lakar magut yudha, ngamet pati, ratu danawané corah. Rakyat Nusa menanyakan sang baru datang, siapakah engkau yang ganteng ini, apa sebabnya engkau datang ke Nusa? Dalam Dukut menjawab dengan manis: aku datang ke sini untuk mengangkat perang, ngambil jiwa seorang raja raksasa yang murka di dunia ini. The people of Nusa asked the newcomer: who is this handsome man, what are you doing here in Nusa? King Dukut answered sweetly: I have come here to wage war and to take the life of a giant and fearsome king.
(4) Singgih Ratu manawegang, bawos ratu tityang ngiring, mangda sidha Sawang pejah, ratu pacang madeg prabhu, ngiring dumun ratu simpang, kadi mangkin, subaktiné kacihnayang. Ampun tuan junjunganku, perkataan engkau seiring dengan apa yang engkau ucapkan, semoga bisa ratu yang murka itu dibunuh oleh engkau, saya akan menobatkan tuanku menjadi raja di Nusa, saya mempersilahkan tuan untuk mampir ke rumah saya, semua rakyat di Nusa menandai bakti kepada junjungannya. We ask forgiveness, my Lord, your answers are true to word. Hopefully you will be able to kill the dreadful king, and I will install you as the new King of Nusa. I invite you to come over to my house. And all of the people there acknowledged service to him.
(5) Pisuguh haturang tityang, mangda harsa ngalinggihin, tityang pañjak nambet nista, magenah ring duwur watu, sakirang luput lugrayang, sada gelis, Dalem Dukut mabojana. Saya memberikan sekedar sugguhan kepada tuan, semoga engkau berkenan menerima sekedarnya, saya seorang petani yang hina, bertempat di atas karang, sekurang-kurangnya suguhan hamba supaya makhlum, tidak diceritakan Dalem Dukut sudah menerima sugguhan. I praise you, and I hope you like it, I am a lowly farmer, and live on coral, the praise we offer you is for real. King Dukut gladly received the offerings.
(6) Sawuwuse merayunan, Ida Dukut mbawos raris, manira twah suksma, subaktiné padha nulus, pang kéto ja jak makejang, mañungkemin, para sparo (paraparos) sarpana ya. Setelah makan, Dalem Dukut berkata halus, saya hanya mengucapkan terima kasih baktimu begitu semuanya, menyetujui, semua hidup rukun dan damai. Sedtelah memakan makanan, Ida Dalem Dukut berkata: Saya menyampaikan rasa terima kasih baktimu semua dengan tulus, kuharap semua supaya begitu, melaksanakan, saling kerjasama, bantu-membantu, tidak saling menyakiti. After he had finished eating, King Dukut spoke refinedly: I thank you for your service, I agree to all peaceful togetherness. I wish to express my gratitude and hope that all will be according to your wishes: working together and helping each other, not hurting one another.
(7) Wenten pañjak matur banban, hindik Sawang ngisi gumi, ngelimbakang kadurjanan, nika mangda sidha lampus, ngiring ratu ngamungahang (ngemunggahang), Bukit Mundi, hirika wismanya Sawang. Ada warga masyarakat berkata perlahan-lahan, berkenaan dengan Dalem Sawang menjadi raja, menyebarkan kejahatan, semua itu supaya bisa mati, marilah paduka raja berjalan ke atas, di Bukit Mundi, di sanalah rumahnya Dalem Sawang. Some of the people spoke quietly of the fact that King Sawang had caused evil, to the purpose that all would die. So we invite you to take the walk up to Bukit Mundi, where King Sawang resides.
Pupuh Durma    
Pelajané gagañcangan tan rérénan, magagawan padha lungid, matingkah purusa, saksana sagét prapta, maring ikang Cemeng Ukir, sami kagyat, Dalem Sawang tur sang nangkil. Jalannya tergesa-gesa tidak terhenti, bersenjata sangat tajam, sama-sama kesatria, sebentar sampailah di tempat tujuan, di daerah pegunungan Cemeng Ukir, semua terkejut, ketika melihat Dalem Sawang dengan banyak orang. All in a hurry, speedily, with sharp weapons, as they were all ksatria, they arrived at their destination in the mountains called Cemeng Ukir. All of the people there were surprised at seeing King Sawang with many people.
(1) Sampun ng(e)rasa datenging satru ring Nusa, murirak sawang tur nuding, hina (iba) satru nista, nirdon iba ngendag yuda, ñetokang wisésa mahi, tan urungan, tatadahan wong samar dadi. Setelah merasa didatangi musuh ke Nusa, berteriaklah Dalem Sawang dengan marah, wahai kamu musuh hina, sangat disayangkan kamu berperang, menujukkan kesaktianmu ke sini, hanya menjadi santapan para raksasa. King Sawang was very angry and shouted when he noticed the enemy had come to find him in Nusa. You lowly enemy, it's shameful you should have arrived here to wage war, and show your spiritual power. It will just be a meal for the giants!
(2) Tan pajemuga (jemuga) Isawang ngranasika (ngeranasika), pangasiawan (pangastawan) Durgha Murthi, -/- lindu ikang tala, /65/ geni murub ngabar habar, tulya parwata ngendih, ngeseng bwana, humung suryak parajurit. Seketika itu Dalem Sawang menyatukan pikiran, beliau mendoakan kesaktian Dewi Durga, tiba-tiba ada gempa besar, api berkobar-kobar ke udara, ibaratkan gunung yang terbakar, membakar dunia, semua prajurit memberikan semangat. Then, King Sawang gathered his thoughts and prayed to goddess Durga, and a big earthquake occurred. Fire reached into the skies as if a mountain was on fire, burning the world, and all the warriors felt excited.
(3) Sang purusa tan surud ring ranangga (rananggana), hapan padha masutindih, bani mengetohang, pramana maring payudan, dalem Dukut ngunus kris, saha nganggar, saha madipta mangendih. Orang yang ksatria tidak pernah mundur dari medan laga, sebab semua pada berbakti, berani dalam pertempuran, Dalem Dukut mencabut keris, serta bersiap untuk menancapkan keris tersebut yang mengeluarkan cahaya. The ksatria people never feared a battlefield as they all paid service, courageous at war. So King Dukut took out his kris, and was ready to use it, as the kris emanated light.
(4) Kagyat Sawang ngeton kadga mauttama, tur mucehang durgha murthi, sada ngandap kasor, uduh déwa, mauttama, hené hada bisa (me)jati, manut marga, bapa ñrahang néné jani (nejani). Sawang terkejut ketika melihat keris yang hebat itu, seketika menghentikan tapa Durga Murti, mohon belas kasihan, wahai Dewa yang agung, sekarang ada yang ingin kusampaikan, seperti jalanku, aku menyerahkan sekarang. Sawang was surprised when he saw this awesome kris, and he stopped revering Durga Murti asking her for vengeance. You praised soul, this is what I have to tell you, as is the way I should go, I surrender.
(5) Wong samar bapa hanggon, pangabih déwa, sajroning ngamong gumi, yaning manikawang, sañjatha ratna kañcana, pramangkin bapa manresti, dadi sila, ri madyaning ikang tasik. Rakyatku para raksasa itulah engkau jadikan abdimu, di kala kamu memerintah sebagai raja, bila kamu membunuhku, dengan senjata Ratna Kencana seketika aku hidup kembali, menjadi sebongkah bayu (kayu?) di tengah laut. Alle the people present, all the giants, I give to you as servants when you become king. But, the moment you kill me with the Ratna Kencana, I will immediately live again and become rocks in the middle of the ocean...
(6) Ngaran atu watuh (watu atuh) lumbung kita jineng, papupulan hupon gumi, mastu Jagat Nusa, dumadak trak stata, tur maniñjak danu mundi, pañjak kagyat, danu tukad ñat pramangkin. Bernama Batu Atuh, Batu Lumbung dan Batu Jineng, di sanalah tertimbun semua hasil bumi pertanian, Nusa dikutuk, semoga Nusa kekeringan dan kekurangan sandang pangan, diinjaklah Danau Nusa di Mundi, cercenganglah semua rakyat nusa, semua danau dan sungai kering-kerontang. ... called Batu Atuh, Bayu Lumbung and Batu Jineng. There, all the fruits of the earth will be buried and Nusa will be cursed. I wish Nusa to become dry and short of food, and the lake of Nusa at Mundi will be trampled upon, and the people of Nusa will all be amazed at the sight of dry lakes and rivers.
Pupuh Pangkur    
Ikang bañu soring tala, ngecor hulung, ring jaladhi pringga terbis, mangkin déréng (érang) Dalem Dukut, niwakang ratna keñcana, pawana (puwana) madres, sila hagung mangalimpung, tan lepas (lempas) ring bisama, kéto tingkah mraga sakti. Semua air itu di bawah tanah, mengalir jatuh ke laut dari tebing yang curam, seketika itu Dalem Dukut marah, beliau mengunus senjata ratna kencana, tiba-tiba ada badai, bebatuan besar semua terbang terbawah angin, tidak menyimpang dari pesan-pesan yang magis, demikianlah orang sakti memperlihatkan kemampuannya. All the water underneath will flow into the sea, from high slopes. Hearing this, King Dukut became angry and unsheathed his Ratna Kencana. Suddenly, there was a hurricane with stones falling down with the winds, like a magic spell. This is the way people with special spiritual powers show their strength.
(1) Dalem Sawang sampun pejah, bala tumut, ngandap ngaturang subhakti, maring Ida Dalem Dukut, ida dalem wenten bawos , nah né hiba, heda ngalih hulah haluh, nadhah jadma tan padosa, yan désa kurang pangaci. Dalem Sawang sudah mati, Prajurit tunduk, semua bersujud dan berbakti, kepada Ida Dalem Dukut; Ida Dalem sekarang berkata: wahai para raksasa, jangan berbuat semena-mena, membunuh manusia tak berdosa, kalau ada desa tidak pernah melaksanakan upakara. King Sawang died, and his soldiers surrendered, all paid service to King Dukut, who spoke: giants, don't act arbitrarily, and don't kill innocent people, if there are villages who do not adhere to traditional ceremonies.
(2) Wenang cahi ngalimbakang, grubug hagung, ngawé gring tan sinipi, yan désa pangaciné manut, jalan rombo ngawé melah, hapan butha, matemahan déwa hayu, ngawé sukretaning jagat, bhuta kala padha hasih. Sudah sepatutnya kamu menebarkan berbagai macam penyakit, membuat bancana yang tidak terhingga, Jika ada Desa sudah melakasakan yadnya yang sesuai, marilah semua itu kita jaga, sebab keberadaan Bhuta, menjelma menjadi Dewa yang baik, selalu membuat dunia tentram, semua Bhutakala menjadi tenang. You have been spreading various epidemics causing relentless disaster. If there are villages that have performed 'yadnya' ceremonies, let us keep it that way, as the bhuta which have become good gods will always keep this world peaceful. All of the bhutakala will rest at ease.
(3) Tan warnanen kudang warsa, Dalem Dukut, ngawé jagat sampun trepti, wibhuhing guna tur sadhu, satru tan hana lumiyat, pertajana (pertakjana), mangguh landhuh padha hadung, padha ngwangun kahyangan, tata karma margi becik. Tidak diceritakan berapa tahun Dalem Dukut membuat bumi mejadi tentram, bergelimang pengetahuan dan bijaksana, musuh tidak ada yang berani, masyarakat menjadi sejahtera dan saling kerjasama, semua membangun tempat persembahyangan, keadaan warga menjadi baik. After King Dukut had pacified Nusa, enriched by knowledge and wisdom, the enemy would no longer dare enter. The people felt safe and sound, they worked together and everyone was building religious places for prayer, and so the people became good.
Pupuh Sinom    
Ratu Bali ceritayang, Watu Rénggong Lwih sakti, -/- ratu Pasuruan handap, Sasak /66/ Sumbawa kasorin, patih padha sama sakti, maprajaya nusa kayun, hapang dadi wawidangan, kagamel ring ratu Bali, sangkan ngutus, Gusti Paminggirka Nusa. Sekarang diceritakanlah Raja Waturenggong yang berkuasa di Bali amat sakti, raja Pasuruan juga tunduk, termasuk Lombok, Sumbawa semua ditaklukkan, para patih semua sakti, sekarang berkeinginan untuk mengalahkan Nusa, supaya menjadi bagian dari wilayah Bali dan agar dikuasai raja Bali, maka belia mengutus Gusti Paminggir ke Nusa. The story continues with the very spiritually endowed King of Bali called Waturenggong. The king of Pasuruan surrendered, and also Lombok and Sumbawa, all were vanquished with the help of the spiritually endowed 'ministers' (patih). They wished to defeat Nusa in order to make it a part of Bali. So, in order to do this, Gusti Paminggir was sent over to Nusa.
(1) Mahiringan bala yuda, makasami domas diri, tan caritha maring hawan, saksana maring pasisi, désa pakramané panggih, tur ngusak asik mangamuk, hasing pangguh kamatyang, banténg ketaton sanil (upami), tan mangitung, swadharmaning ring payudan. Yang disertai prajuritnya yang berjumlah 800 orang, tak diceritakan dalam perjalanan, seketika sudah ada di pinggir pantai Nusa, sudah tiba ti pemukiman desa, tanpa perhitungan dan mengombang-ambing rumah di Nusa, setiap kali dia bertemu dengan orang nusa mereka dibunuh, seperti banteng terluka (* kaya matador spanjol, tidak memenghitung apa-apa lagi), tidak dipikirkan dalam kebenaran berperang. The 800 soldiers arrived at the beach of Nusa and afterwards at the villages where they thronged the houses. Each time they encountered Nusa inhabitants, they killed them, like wounded cows, without thinking of the true reason of their war.
(2) Wenten sané nuñjel umah, humung pañjaké mañerit, tur malaib numpang (murang) lampah, kagyat Dalem Dukut ngaksi, hapan pañjak padha mlahib, mangandika Dalem Dukut, Ih cahi pañjak manira, nguda mlahib pungsang pangsing heda takut, menira jani ngarepang. Ada yang membakar rumah, bingung rakyat semua menjerit, semua lari ketakutan, terkejut Dalem Dukut melihatnya, sebab semua rakyatnya lari, berkatalah Dalem Dukut, wahai kamu rakyat semua, mengapa kamu lari tunggang langgang, jangan takut, Akulah sekarang menghadapinya. Houses were burnt and the people fled in fear and shouted. King Dukut was taken by surprise by these events. All the people fled, so King Dukut said: why are you all running away like this? Do not fear. I will now take care of this.
(3) Panjake matur ñembah, nguningan satruné mangkin, para yuda Bali Dwipa, ngusak hasik tan sinipi, pañjak ratu tan pahuning, janma demang (jak mademang) tan pahunduk, pondoké sami katuñjel, hantuk para patih Bali, hakwéh (kuweh) lampus, pañjak ratu ring penepya. Rakyat sembah sujud, memberitahukan tentang adanya musuh dating ke Nusa, tiada lain prajurit dari Bali, mengusak-asik tidak henti-hentinya, rakyat tuanku tidak mengerti prilakunya, seketika membunuh tanpa dipikirkan, rumah penduduk semua dibakar oleh pasukan Bali, tak terhitung jumlah orang yang dibunuh, terutama rakyat yang di pesisir. The people pleaded and reported that the enemy had come to Nusa. The Balinese army had come to destroy their houses. The king did not understand their behaviour when he witnessed their thoughtless killing. The houses were burnt to the ground by the Balinese army, numerous people were killed, especially along the coast.
(4) Erang kayun mamirengang, hatur panjak kadi mangkin, hapan satru tan purusa, nirdon nagih ngendag jurit,tan manggeh sasana jurit, wireh dosa dahat hagung, manut maring parilaksana, Dalem Dukut mapawangsit, pada hiju, Gede Macalingpangarep. Dendam rasanya mendengarkannya, ucapan rakyat seperti sekarang ini, sebab ada musuh tidak mempunyai sifat ksatria, tidak tahu malu ingin berperang, tidak menjalankan tugas sebagai prajurit dalam pertempuran, sebab dosa teramat besar, bila tidak mengikuti sifat seorang prajurit, Dalem Dukut sekarang memanggil Ratu Gede Mecaling sebagai prajurit pilihan seketika. The call for vengeance was heard, the people cried for it, as the enemy didn't know ksatria manners and were not ashamed to wage war. They committed great sins and did not adhere to ksatria principles. Finally, King Dukut called upon Ratu Gede Mecaling as his favourite warrior.
(5) Wong samar padha hatag, majahang prajurit Bali, Gdé Macaling ngiringan, nanpa ñuwun bawos yukti, sada ngerak mangawukin, bala samar padha rawuh, nakénin bwat pisarat, ring Ratu Gdé Macaling, sawur manuk, napi wénten pakaryané. Para manusia setengah raksasa datang, membunuh para prajurit dari Bali, Gede Macaling ikut serta, mengikuti perintah Raja, diikuti dengan suara memanggil kawan, semua raksasa pada datang, kepada Ratu Gede Macaling, semua itu, bertanya apa yang mesti dilakukan. All the half-giants appeared and killed the Balinese army. Gede Macaling took part in this battle, following the king's orders. He called for his friends, and all the giants came over to him, and they all wondered what they should do.
(6) Ratu macaling mangucap, wong samar jani dingehin, hada satru mangrusak, mangaran Gusti Paminggir, mahiringan para jurit, domas diri sakti kasub, suba waged ring payudan, sregep saha sañjata (singanjata) lungid, hiya mangamuk, pañjak ring panepi jengah (pejah). Ratu Gede Macaling berkata, wahai para raksasa sekarang dengarkan, ada musuh datang merusak, bernama Gusti Paminggir, bersama para prajurit, delapan ratus orang sangat sakti, sudah kesohor dalam pertempuran, lengkap membawa senjata yang runcing, dia mengamuk, rakyat di pesisir pantai dibunuh. King Gede Macaling spoke to the giants: listen, the enemy has come to cause havoc, his name is Gusti Paminggir together with his soldiers, 800 men with special spiritual powers. They are renowned fighters, and they carry sharp weapons. He causes disarray and the people at the beach have been killed.
(7) Bala samar sami hérang, sayaga pacang ngandingin, saking silib mangalahang (mengalayang), ngawé gring grubug mangkin, arya Bali ngutah mising, sinamyan padha lampus, pañjak Nusa girang pesan, sang hangamuk (mengamuk) padha mati, briyak briyuk, saling tulung /67/ nguwang umah. Wong samar semua dendam, siap siaga untuk menandingi, tetapi dengan sangat rahasia, sekarang membuat penyakit gerubug, para prajurit Bali mutaber, semua akhirnya meninggal, rakyat Nusa sangat gembira-ria, semua prajurit sudah mati, saling tolong-menolong membangun rumah. The wong samar wanted vengeance and were ready to take the challenge, but secretly spread the terrible disease, and all of the Balinese soldiers vomited and suffered from diarrhoea, all of them died. The people of Nusa were very happy and gay that all of the soldiers were dead. They worked together to build houses.
(8) Pañjak Nusa ngawosang (ngerasowang) duta Bali ngemasin pati, basangé keduk wong samar, hapan sakit ngutah mising, mawanan(g) jengah (pejah) I Minggir, dadi satriya tan pahunduk, tan manggeh sasana yuda, yadin ririh dahat sakti, pedas nemu, baya patiné tan lémpas. Diceritakanlah rakyat Nusa, utusan Bali sudah meninggal, perutnya sudah dikeluarkan wong samar, karena sakit mutaber, itu sebabnya I Minggir marah dan dendam, menjadi prajurit tidak tahu aturan, tidak paham dengan kebenaran berperang, walaupun dia sudah sakti, tentunya dia akan mampus tanpa daya. It was told by the people of Nusa that the Balinese envoy had died, and from his belly emerged wong samar. This is the reason Minggir was angry and sought revenge. He became an unruly warrior, someone who did not know the rules of engagement. Although he possessed special spiritual powers, he would surely die.
(9) Dalem Enggong mamirengan, wadwa yuda ngemasin pati, padgatakala marumang, bahudanda tanda mantri, bhagawanta padha sami, ngicénin pamargi patut, swadharmaning ngendag yudha, satriya purusa jati, mangda hadung, sang sura mri haken yajña. Dalem Waturenggong mendengarkan banyak prajurit yang mati, segeralah diadakan musyawarah, semua punggawa kerajaan, pada Maharsi semuanya memberikan jalan terbaik, kewajiban dalam bertempur, hendaknya ksatria, supaya sama seorang ksatria melaksanakan yadnya (= berkorban tanpa pamrih). King Waturenggong heard that many soldiers had died and he called for a meeting with all the punggawa of the kingdom and all the Maharsi. They all advised the king on the best course of action, the obligations in times of war in which ksatria were to take part, as they were able to confront the ksatria disinterestedly (?).
(10) Garjita Dalem mirengang, bahos (bawos) ida mahamuni, pindaka titi pengañcan, patut margyang maka sami, pamucuk arya lan mantri, patut satindih (sutindih) ring prabhu, matoh t(l?)anaggana (matoh pati rananggana), swarga pangguh, mahajati ñandang tuju, pan tan malih manrestiya. Bahagia Dalem Waturenggong mendengarkan kata-kata dari Para Maharsi, sebagai jalan, semua harus melaksanakan sebagai yang di depan adalah para ksatria, harus setia kepada raja, mengorbankan jiwa raga medan pertempuran, pasti memperoleh sorga, seharusnya itu dicari, supaya tidak lagi lahir kembali. King Waturenggong was very pleased at hearing these words spoken by the Maharsi: all had to be arranged by the ksatria warriors loyal to the king, ready to sacrifice their lives on the battlefield. Surely, they would go to heaven in order for them never to return to this life.
(11) Wadwa tan ana hatura, saksat (satsat) kadi linggir jati, siyep jati (jampi) tan hikisikan, nguntul tada mérang (tanah sareng) sami, salit kayun tan sinipi, wireh takut magegebug, hindik sakti Dalem Nusa, koptah tan wenten siniring, sakti wibuh, waged swadharmaning yuda. Para rakyak tidak ada memberikan kata, ibarakan patung tidak berkata, sepi tidak berani bergerak, nunduk ke tanah bersama, merasa malu di hati tiada taranya, karena khawatir mengangkat perang, karena tersohor kesaktian Dalem Nusa, sudah terkenal tidak ada menyamai, kesaktiannya sudah kesohor, sudah lincah dalam kesaktian manghadapi perang. The population remained silent, like a speechless statue. In silence, no-one dared to move, all looking to the ground, feeling truly ashamed as they were worried about taking up arms against King Nusa with such renowned spiritual powers, expert in the art of war.
(12) Warna habang Dalem Énggong, ngaksi para arya sami, Gusti Jelantik nglascarya, hatur banban ñurñur manis, hinggih ratu matur sisip, hampura tityang hapunggung, misadya ngaturang hayah, yadiastu ngmasin pati, ñungsung ratu, wetu sakéng nekéng twas. Bermuka merah Dalem Waturenggong melihat semua mahapatihnya, kemudian Gusti Jelantik Bogol memberanikan diri berbicara dengan pelan dan lembut, tuanku raja hamba mohon maaf, maaf saya bukannya menolak, saya bersedia mengabdi, keluar pikirannya murni dan suci. King Waturenggong's face turned red when he saw all of his chief ministers. Then, Gusti Jelantik Bogol took courage and spoke softly and slowly: my Lord, I apologise. It is not that I refuse as I am willing to serve you, these are my sincere and holy thoughts.
(13) Ida Dalem mangandika, paman maha sura jati, hene hada bisaman ira, dharma satriyané tinutin, yadyan satru maha sakti, hento gisyang hapang kukuh, Jlantik Bogol mangingang (mengiringan), ñuhun bisaman bhupati, saha nglunsur, munggwing pamargi ka Nusa. Raja bersabda: paman adalah prajurit yang sejati, ini adalah pesan saya, kebenaran kesatriya itulah paman ikuti, walaupun ada musuh yang sangat sakti, itulah supaya imanmu, Jelantik Bogol ikut dengan perintah raja, menghormati yang ditugaskan oleh raja, akhir pamitan untuk pergi ke Nusa. The king spoke: you are a true warrior, and this is my command: you should follow the ksatria's true principles although the enemy possesses spiritual powers. Take this message as your main inspiration. Jelantik Bogol followed the king's advice and the task bestowed upon him, and he took leave to set sail to Nusa.
(14) Dina beñjang paman luwas, sañjata irané tampi, gañja malelo (malela) haranya, muceh satru mahasakti, tan kehanan kekasorin, kajana nuraga sampun, dumadak sidaning don, jalan paman suba mulih, horahin hayu,  hapang padha saling tresna. Besok paman Jelantik pergi, ini ada sebuah senjata yang paman terima bernama Ganja Melela untuk dapat mengalahkan kesaktian musuh, belum pernah terkalahkan, sudah terkenal di dunia, semoga bisa jaya, kamu boleh pulang ke rumahmu dalam persidangan ini, beritahukalah istrimu Ayu Kalér, supaya bisa saling kasih-mengasihi. Tomorrow, you should leave. So take this weapon called Ganja Melela in order to kill the enemy with his spiritual powers. He has so far never been defeated, a well-known fact all over the world. (15) Tityang nglungsur pamit budal, ring Iratu sareng sami, tan kawarnan maring hawan, sagét ring jro prapti, -/-  sang hayu ñagjag ngabakti, saha ngaturang pawangsuh, /68/ ñapsap pada toya hañar, dane Jlantik keñem manis, déwa hayu, suksma becik (Bali) kalintang. Tuankku hamba mohon pamit pulang ke rumah, terhadap semua hadirin, tidak diceritakan sepanjang jalan, seketika sudah sampai di rumah, segera Ayu Kalér mendekati serta memberikan sembah bakti, dan memberikan air pembersih kaki, Gusti Jelantik menerima dengan senyum manis, adinda Ayu Kalér terima kasih atas perhatianmu. My Lord and all those attending, I beseech you to let me go home first. When he arrived home, Ayu Kalér approached him, paid him hommage and offered water to wash his feet. Gusti Jelantik received this gift with a smile: beloved Ayu Kalér, thank you for your kind attention.
(16) Saha melinggih kalihan, pisuguh sampun cumawis, jangkep hindik sad rasanya (rasane), ciri leket tresna hasih, kadi slepa ring tekep tuwi, twara hada rasa ginggung, ngawé becik ring pahumahan, wit pati brata sang histri, satyéng (satya) kakung, sahélohan (seheluan) kayun kalihan. Serta duduk berdua, hidangan sudah tersedia, sudah lengkap dengan enam rasa, itu menyatu kasih sayangnya, ibaratkan penutup tempat kapur sirih menyatu (= prakata Bali, sudah akrab), tidak ada sedikitpun rasa renggang, membuat kesejukan dan kenyamanan dalam rumahtangga, karena Ayu Kalér sangat setia dengan suaminya, saling isi-mengisi berdua. Seated together, food was offered rich in six tastes, and this completed his sense of love, intimately like the cover of a lime-holder closing tight. They became very close indeed, creating a sense of freshness and comfort typical of a household, as Ayu Kalér was very faithful to her husband, and they spent long hours together in harmony.
(17) Sambil dané ngajeng sedah, medal bawos sada haris, hadi hayu mas mirah, lédaning adi manampi, hapan beli pañjak bakti, tan wenang langgya ring prabhu, manut swadharmaning ksatriya, wani pacang matoh pati, saking patut, matindih wangsa negara. Disertai memakan daun sirih, keluarlah pembicaraan senyum dan manis, adinda Ayu mas mirah kakandamu (=kamu menjadi junjungan aku), tetapi dengan baik adinda menerimanya, karena kakandamu adalah sebagai rakyat junjungan raja, tidak boleh melanggar atau berani kepada raja sesuai dengan pelaksanaan sebagai kesatria, berani untuk mengorbankan jiwa, membela bangsa dan Negara. While chewing betel leaves, he said: you are my trusted wife, but you have to receive (my trust?) well, as I, as part of the people, am held in high respect by the king. As a ksatria no offence shall be committed to the king, as I am willing to sacrifice my soul and defend the honour of the people and the state.
(18) Héling beli hané suba, tusning wiragotra twi, sira bapa mur ring Blangbangan (Blambangan), masutindih né sujati, ngiring kayun sri nrepati, maka patut sungsung pundut, napi mailh jayéng rana, swarga twi né kahungsi, sampun mungguh, kécaping aji agama. Teringatlah kakak peristiwa yang lampau, keturunan prajurit yang sejati, beliau ayahku pulang ke alam baka dalam peperangan Blambangan, membela kebenaran, mengikuti sabda sang raja, semestinya kita tunduk dan seiring dengan semua perintah raja, apalagi menang dalam peperangan, sorga sejatilah yang kita temukan, itu sudah tertuang di ajaran agama. He remembered an event, which took place a long time ago: his father died during the battle at Blambangan and returned to heaven while defending the truth as he followed the king's wishes. (19) Yan sang hyang titah tan swéca, minab tan mawali malih, kéwala hadi subayang (sukayang), sampunang ñesel ring hati, hala hayu twah manungil (menaunggil), hané halih twara tepuk, né kelidinbakat jemah, hento mula pedum widhi, heda sengguh, daging jagaté mangebek. Seandainya Tuhan tidak memberi restu, mungkin kanda tidak akan kembali lagi, tetapi tenangkanlah pikiranmu, baik buruknya hanya menjadi satu, yang kita cari tidak ditemukan, yang kita hindari justru didapatkan, itulah sesungguhnya anugerah Tuhan, jangan ragu, isi dunia pana ini sebenarnya penuh. If God doesn't give his blessing, perhaps I will not return. Pupuh dangdang    
Durung tatas tityang ngeresepin, pawencana, minab (binab) tityang ngé (ngawe) kobet, baktin beli ring sang natha (Nusa), sarin tanah tityang ibuk, kebawos tan satyeng (satyang) laki, bruk tanah sarat pisan, mangda huning ring pahunduk, dluwang bisa mangembara, mangelayang, manah tityang sareng beli, jro(n) déwa hampurayang. Belum sama sekali saya dapat mengerti, kata-kata kakanda, mungkin saya membuat kebingungan, gara-gara sembah sujud kanda sama raja, seolah-olah debu tanah membuat saya kwawatir, yang disebut saya tidak setia dengan kakanda, kendi dari tanah diperlukan sekali, agar saya tahu dengan sesungguhnya perihal yang di pikiran kakanda, ibaratkan selembar kertas bisa terbang (= layang-layang), maksud keiningan saya bersama-sama ikut dengan kakanda. I don't really understand your words, and perhaps I am confused, as you have sworn your loyalty to the king, the dust of the earth unsettles me. What you have told me, I am not sure I can adhere to. (1) Hadi nguda cacangkriman silib jati, ngawé kémeng, pamedas (pamekas) tetujun uttama, patut adi mamicayang, ngembak pejalané patut, hapang hada tutut (tuwut) beli, magebuk ka jagat Nusa, ñuhun pikayun sang prabhu, mrajaya prabhuning Nusa, mangda sidha, kehapti jroning jurit, jalan adi kértiyang. Dinda Ayu Kalér teka-teki sulit dimengerti, membuat pusing, intinya adalah tujuan utama, semestinya dinda memberikan restu kepada kanda membuka perjalanan kanda yang sesungguhnya, supaya ada jalan yang saya turuti, akan mengangkat perang di Nusa, menuruti titah sang raja, untuk mengalahkan raja Nusa, agar bisa keinginan dalam peperangan, silahkan adik mendoakan kakanda. Setelah jelas apa yang didengarkan oleh Ayu Kaler dalam pembicaraan tersebut, seperti semua pembicaraan sudah pas, kakanda janganlah kamu ragu sebab saya wanita yang setia seperti Dewi Sita berani tercebur dalam api karena kesetiannya, hanya dengan kematian sebagai penebus menghilangkan semua kekotoran di dunia, itulah sebabnya kesatria itu yang menjadi pegangan, marilah kita persiapkan sekarang. After Ayu Kalér had understood Jelantik's words during this conversation, she felt satisfied. Amat gembiralah sang laki berkata manis, memang benar Dewi Sita menjelma pada dirimu dinda, membuktikan dirimu di dunia ini, menjatuhkan diri di api unggun, sedikitpun tidak terbakar (= Ramayana), kebenaran yang sejati itu sesungguhnya menjadi bukti, sehingga kebenaran itu patut diikuti dan dilaksanakan, kebaikannya mesti akan ditemukan, itu sudah tersurat di dalam cerita kebenaran ( = kitab, veda, dll), tertanda buruk, duka tidak akan kembali lagi, terus-menerus akan disebutkan kebaikannya di dunia ini. Jelantik was very pleased at hearing this, it was really true that goddess Sita had reincarnated as his wife: this is the proof of your being in this world, throwing yourself on the burning stake as nothing at all was touched by the fire (ref. Pupuh Ginada    
Singgih beli susuhunan, nunas mangkin mangubakti, tan melupéng pitra puja, mogi riwastu rahayu, sidhaning don rananggana, pageh hurip, mangda sidha kapangguha. Ya kakanda junjungan dinda, meminta sekarang untuk berbakti bersembahyang, jangan lupa pada leluhur harus tetap dipuja, semoga selalu mendapat kebaikan, sukses di dalam menghadapi perang, abadi dalam kehidupan, semoga semua keinginan kita yang suci dan iklas cercapai. I beseech you to pray, and do not forget to always honour the ancestors. I hope you will always achieve goodness, success in war, everlasting life, may all of our holy and sincere aspirations be fulfilled.
(1) Sampun puput mengastawa, ring Ida Hyang Tri Sakti, sagét surup Sang Hyang Surya, sang kalih pacang meturu, ngojog (bale) gunung ratha, sampun harip, téngah latri caritayang. Setelah selesai kehadapan Dewa Tri Sakti, seketika matahari terbenam, kedua orang tersebut akan tidur, menuju tempat peristirahatan di sebelah timur, setelah terlelap, pada tengah malam diceritakan. After paying respect to the gods Brahma, Wisnu and Iswara, the sun went down. The two people went to sleep in the resting place to the north, and after they had slept well, it was told:
(2) Hayu Kaler jeg (jag) metangya, kadi sangsaya ring hati, éling carita Sang Saliya, Satyawati ñambung kañcut, mangda tan kantos katinggal, ring ibeli, mangkin sampun ngedas lemah. As soon as Ayu Kalér woke up, she felt uneasy as she remembered the tale of Sang Saliya (ref. Barata Yuda: Sang Saliy became the coachman of the Korawa clan in war), and Satyawati (Sang Saliya's wife) sewed together her husband's sarong so as not to be forsaken by her husband before sunrise.
(3) Gusti Jlantk kapupungan, tedun ring balé matangi, tan karasa indik wastra, sagét rasa kedeng hulung, tan pakaput hanggan dané, barang pingit, dekem (nekep) panon hayu Kaler (ika). Gusti Jelantik bangun kebingungan, turun dari tempat tidurnya, tidak merasa sarongnya terikat, merasa ditarik sarongnya jatuh, tidak tertutup badannya dengan kain, barang rahasianya dilihat oleh Ayu Kalér yang menutup mata. Gusti Jelantik woke up all confused, and came down from his sleeping place but didn't notice his sarong had been tied together with his wife's sarong. He noticed his sarong fell down and his body was no longer covered with it, and his intimate parts were exposed to Ayu Kalér, who then closed her eyes.
(4) Sambilang dané ngandika, niki hambil wastran beli, dané Jlantik ñongok ñemak, sambil ngelutin sang hayu, ditu raris ngarasayang (asih), lulut hasih, sagét semu bhang hyang runa. Sambil berkata: ini ambil sarong kakanda, Gusti Jelantik menjongkok mengambil sarongnya, sambil merangkul Ayu Kalér, di sanalah dia menikmati rasa kasih sayangnya, sampai menjelang terbitnya matahari. When his wife told him to take the sarong, Gusti Jelantik squatted and reached for the sarong, while embracing Ayu Kalér. And he enjoyed their love until the red of the morning sky became clear.
(5) Éling raris sang kalihan, pacang luwas ngentas pasih, ngandika dané sang lanang, jalan ka pañcuran mañjus, mabresih padha makramas, bresih suci, ngerangsuk busana petak. Mengingat lalu mereka berdua, akan berpergian melintasi laut, Gusti Jelantik berkata: baiklah kita ke kamar mandi untuk mandi, untuk membersihkan diri dan keramas, setelah bersih dia berpakaian serba putih. Setelah siap segalanya, mereka ke tempat suci berduaan, dia menaikkan aturan canang, disertai memohon pembersihan diri, seketika ada suara guntur gemuruh, ada petir, awan yang tebal mengeluarkan hujan. (7) Sang kalih semu garjita, kasiratin mreta (amerta) jati, nunas pamit ring mrajan, tan kocapan maring henu, kancit rawuh ring Kusamba, jukung ngapti, -/- munggah raris pada (sada) /70/ hégar. Mereka berdua sangat gembira, sepertinya mereka disirami kehidupan lestari, memohon diri di pura mrajan, tidak diceritakan dalam perjalanan, seketika sampai di Kusamba, perahunya sudah menunggu, langsung naik semua dengan kegembiraan. The two of them were very happy, as if given water of life's sustenance and they went to pray at the Pura Mrajan. Then, they arrived at the shores of Kusamba where the proa was waiting. They got happily on board.
(8) Tasik lisik tan kalisikan, iwak lomba kwéh mangiring, padha saling pamalunan, makéjang ngédéngan tundun, nesek ring jukung sinamyan, pang husudin, kéto pikédohña hiwak. Lautnya tenang, tidak ada gelombang, ikan lumba-lumba banyak yang mengikutinya, lumba-lumba saling mendahului perahunya, diperlihatkan punggungnya, semua dekat dengan perahunya, supaya semua punnggung itu diraba-raba manusia, demikianlah maksud dan keinginannya lumba-lumba itu. The sea was calm, there were no waves and many dolphins followed them, eagerly trying to get in front of the other. Their backs were clearly visible very near to the proa so they could touch them, as was the intention of the dolphins themselves.
(9) Gusti Jlantik ngandika, hadi Hayu Kaler jani, jemak bekelé hedumang, bahang béné padha mupu, sambehang nasi lan sudang, ramé sami, hulamé padha maneda. Gusti Jlantik berkata, sekarang ada yang ingin saya sampaikan padamu Ayu Kaler, ambilah sejumput perbekalannya, kasih ke ikan-ikan itu, taburkan nasi itu dan lauk pauknya, seketika ikan itu pada berebut makanan. Gusti Jelantik said: this is what I have to say to Ayu Kaler: take provisions, give it to these fish, spread nasi and side dishes, and all the fish will gather around to eat it.
(10) Sang kalih (kalihan) (ma)keñem ñingak, paris(p)olah maring jladi, raris ngasirsir pawana (puwana), bakuangan layar ngalembung, tan kocapan maring hawan, sagét prapti, tepisiring jagat Nusa. Keduanya saling melirik penuh senyum, selanjutnya mendayung ditengah laut, kemudian langit makin senja, kencangnya angin membuat layar menjadi cembung, tidak diceritakan perjalanannya, ternyata telah tiba di pesisir pulau Nusa. (11) wenten kapangguh ipañjak, dané gusti menakenin, linggih Ida Dalem Nusa, ipañjak ngiringan ñujur, puri Dalem Dukut Nusa, rawuh kancit, ébek padha panangkilan (menangkilan). Beliau menjumpai seseorang warga, lalu bertanya tentang keberadaan istana Raja Nusa, selanjutnya orang tersebut langsung mengantarkan Gusti Jelantik menuju istana Raja Dukut, tibalah di istana, saat itu pembesar-pembesar istana sedang berkumpul dalam persidangan. (12) Sang utusan nunas lugra, ngadpadha ngaturang bakti, manut dharmaning utusan, matur bhakti (banban) sada alus, hinggih ratu sasuhunan, kadi mangkin, tityang nguningayan pisan. Beliau menjumpai seseorang warga, lalu bertanya tentang keberadaan istana Raja Nusa, selanjutnya orang tersebut langsung mengantarkan Gusti Jelantik menuju istana Raja Dukut, tibalah di istana, saat itu pembesar-pembesar istana sedang berkumpul dalam persidangan. (13) Nah né kocap ihutusan, hapa bwat jani tangkil, lahut haturang tekén manira, hapang sidha ira wruh, sang hutusan matur nembah, sada manis, tityang ratu manawegang. Utusan itu (Jelantik) mohon maaf, diawali dengan sembah sujud, sesuai dengan etika sopan santun seorang duta, sembari mengucapkan kalimat-kalimat yang halus: gusti prabu mohon maafkan saya, sekarang saya akan menyampaikan dengan jelas. Envoy Jelantik excused himself first of all and offered his greetings according to the ethics of an envoy, and uttered refined sentences: Please, king, forgive me, presently I will explain. 
(14) Mawinan tityang tangkil, ring hajeng ratu mangkin, tityang dados hutusan, ratu Baliné kasumbung, mapuspata Déwa Énggong, saking jati, wantah nunas Jagat Nusa. Sebabnya saya kesini di hadapan Gusti Prabu, saya hanyalah seorang duta dari seorang raja yang sudah terkenal bernama Dewa Enggong, dengan hati yang tulus, ingin meminta Pulau Nusa. (15) Dalem Dukut mawancana, suka gelah manampénin, mula twi satriya mauttama, nira nampi (nrima) saking hayu, tur pisuguh (nisuguh) pañambrama, padasami, boga upaboga yuda. Lantas raja Dukut bersabda, betapa senangnya hatiku setelah mendengar maksudmu, sungguh kamu seorang kesatria sejati, saya menerimanya dengn tulus iklas; kemudian Jelantik disambut dengan hidangan, kini telah siap, sajian makanan buat musuh utama.  Then, King Dukut said: I am much pleased at your words, you are a true kesatria, I accept with all my heart and soul; Jelantik was honuored with a rich meal, and a meal for all the enemies was awaiting them.
(16) Tityang wantah ñuksmayang, paswécaniratu mangkin, raris mabojana sareng, ngiring linggih Iida prabhu, sami kenak ngerasayang, sad rasi, sampun puput mabojana. Saya ucapkan terimakasih atas pemberian paduka raja (kata jlantik), setelah dipersilahkan lalu mereka mulai makan bersama, Jelantikpun mengikuti perintah, semua merasakan enaknya makanan itu, karena olahan menu dengan enam rasa, setelah selesai. Jelantik: I thank you, King, for these gifts; after these words they started eating together; Jelantik followed his orders, and all enjoyed the meal as it was offered according to the six tastes.
(17) Ngrangsuk bhusana yudha, jangkep ring sañjata lungid, ngandika kénginan dalem, nah jalan ka padang kuru, -/- Jlantik Bogol mangiringan, nesek rabi, kemo hadi masingidan. Kini mereka berganti pakaian perang, dilengkapi senjata andalannya, sang raja menyampaikan maksudnya, marilah kita menuju medan perang; Jelantik turut perintah, serta berpesan pada istrinya, silahkan kamu bersembunyi. Presently, they changed into war costumes with their most modern weapons; and the king explained: let's go to the battlefield. Jelantik followed his orders and asked his wife to keep a low profile.
(18) Huduh adi mas mirah, malinggih ditu pang becik, sampunang sareng mayudha, yan beli ngemasin lampus, kala ditu masatya, metoh pati, madan luh lwih uttama. Dinda Ayu Kaler dambaanku, carilah tempat yang aman, jangan ikut saya dalam pertempuran, jika nanti saya kalah (mati), saat itulah dinda ikut saya sebagai bentuk kesetiaanmu pada saya, pertaruhan jiwa raga, itulah sesungguhnya seorang istri utama. Ayu Kaler, my darling, please find a safe place, don't follow me in this battle, because if I die, you will follow me in our faith to me, throw in your heart, that is a true wife.
(19) Tityang wantah mangiringan, kadi pawencana beli, mangda yatna maring raga, satru waged lintang kasub, sakti lwih tan pahingan, mangda héling, ngastawayang Tri Ongkara. Dinda bersedia mengikuti, sesuai permintaan Jelantik, hati-hatilah membawa diri, karena musuh (Dukut) terkenal hebat, sangat sakti tanpa tanding, selalulah ingat, memohon restu pada tuhan. Ayu Kaler said: I am willing to follow you, follow your orders, but very cautiously, as the enemy (Dukut) is renowned and mighty, and invincibly 'sakti', I will always remember to ask the Lord for his blessings.
Pupuh Durma    
Jlantik Bogol ngunus kadga mamuriyak, raris ñagjag manesekin, ñuduk Dalem Nusa, jeg sahasa mangruwak, tang karasamaring hati, gañja malélo, kañcit helung dados kalih. Jelantik Bogol mencabut keris dari sarungnya dan berteriak, langsung berlari mendekat, didesaknya Raja Nusa, serta menghujani keris yang dipegangnya, namun tidak terasa oleh Dukut, lantas Keris Ganja Melelo itu patah menjadi dua bagian. Jelantik Bogol took out his keris from its sheath, shouted, ran closer, he was pushed (urged?) by the King of Nusa, stabbing with the keris he was holding, but Dukut was not hurt, and then the keris Ganja Melelo broke into two pieces.
(1) Pawuwusé Dalem Nusa sada banban, Jlantik Bogol kemo mulih, twara ñidayang, ngepét pati Dalem Nusa, gustin cahi tundén mahi, mañentokang, nira pacang mangarepin. Dalem Dukut bersabda dengan halus, wahai Jelantik Bogol, pulanglah, kamu tidak akan mampu membunuh saya, silahkan suruh rajamu datang ke sini untuk mengadu kekuatan, aku akan menghadapinya. (2) Mesuryak para janané nonton, wenten pajaré babeki, ngawé manah jengah, kadi tikana kapendem, panes bara jroning hati, lehang pejah, dané Ngurah mrasa sedih. Bersorak semua yang hadir menyaksikan, ada yang berkata sinis, inginnya melampiaskan dendam, sesak dan panas perasaan, rasanya lebih baik mati, demikian keinginan Jelantik. Pupuh Semarandana    
Tan paguna tityang angkin (mangkin), dadi hutuasn wimuda, kimud jengahé setata, nista numadi kelemah, rasa tan pakerti yasa, becik sampun tityang cabut, nirguna tityang mamañjak. Tiada guna saya sekarang, sebagai utusan muda, malu terasa sekarang, sangat hina hidup ke dunia seperti tidak ada bhakti, sebaiknya cabutlah nyawa saya, tiada guna saya mengabdi. I have no role now as a young envoy, I am engulfed with feelings of shame, this life is a comtemptable affair, as if I have never done good, you may as well kill me, I am not worthy of becoming a servant.
(1) Hayu Kalér manesekin, heda beli maselselan, sampun pangendaning titah, suka dukané tan pasah, ngiring kayuné lajerang, mangdha sida dirgahayu, Dalém Dukut mañjing pura. Ayu Kaler kemudian mendekat, janganlah kanda menyesali diri, mungkin ini sudah takdir tuhan, suka duka selalu beriringan, mari jernihkan (?) pikiran kanda, semoga kita masih diberi keselamatan, saat itu Raja Nusa kembali ke istananya. Sekarang kanda dengarkan, permintaan saya sekarang, bila berbuat tidak dipikirkan, itu menyebabkan kematian, tertunduk Jelantik Bogol, sambil menangis, Ayu Kaler mendekati dan memeluknya. Ini cucuk konde (hiasan sanggul) saya pakai, sarana membunuh raja yang sakti, terkejut Jelantik mendengar kata-kata yang diucapkan istrinya, karena barang yang diperlihatkan terlalu sepele, tidak punya nilai, sehingga dia masih menampakan wajah yang kusam. This is my hair bun, the way to kill the king in possession of special spiritual powers; Jelantik was startled by what his wife told him as he thought her words were insignificant and worthless, at which he showed his pallid face.
(2) Mépgos (Mengos?) dané mangejohang, tan parungu maring hati, Hayu Kalér ñagjag nguningad (nguningan), hindik (induk) cucuk kondé iku, ngaran kris pecok (Pencok) sahang, mapati tary sakya (saktia). Jelantik membuang muka dan menjauh, seperti telah hilang kepercayaan, Ayu Kaler pun mengikuti langkah sambil menjelaskan tentang keberadaan cucuk konde itu, tak lain adalah Pencok Sahang (kayu bakar) untuk membunuh musuh sakti sekalipun. Jelantik looked away and left, as if he had lost all faith; Ayu Kaler followed him and explained the meaning of the hair bun, which was none other than the Pencok Sahang (firewood) he could use to kill his mighty opponent.
(3) Kaduduk ring Tukad Unda, rikala tityang masuci, bangkyangé katumpuk sahang, suba kentungang ping telu, ngatebén malih nguluhan, kantos ping tri, hambil tityang bakta budal. Saya menemukan barang ini di Sungai Unda, ketika saya mandi, badan dinda ditabrak sebatang kayu, sudah saya lempar tiga kali, ketika kayu itu terlempar jauh, tiba-tiba datang lagi ke tubuh saya, sampai tiga kali saya buang, akhirnya saya ambil dan bawa pulang. (4) Hiju tityang ngambil belakas, hanggén ñibak nuréksa (wreksa) pingit, wénten kanteen (kadga) tan pamurna (sempurna), kadi syung sané puntul, wsi wresani waluya, katon yakti, indayang niki gelarang. Sampai di rumah saya mengambil parang untuk membelah kayu ajaib tersebut, di dalamnya terlihat bentuk yang tidak sempurna, seperti taring yang tumpul, juga seperti besi kuning, begitulah tampaknya. (6) Yan sampun pageh mangubaktiya, pedas Ida mañwécanin, pang sida hajeg ring raga, dirgayusané kapangguh, nika wantah kérti yasa, sajeroning, imanusa maring jagat. Kalau selalu ingat berbakti kepada-Nya, pasti beliau memberikan anugrah, semoga bisa mempertahankan diri, panjang umur ditemui, itu semua sebuah amanat, menjelang keberadaan manusia di bumi. If you always remember to give thanks to Him, He will surely give his blessings and you will stand your ground and have a long life, this was a sign of a mandate, which stems from the times when mankind was not yet found on the face of the earth.
(7) Sangkan pageh ngemban raga, ditu pacang mangguh sakti, tarmalupéng pitra puja, kadi bawos mraga sadu, kéto mirah sujatiña, mangda tiling, nganingambek haja lupa. Atas dasar kuat iman, disanalah kekuatan menyertai, jangan lupakan leluhur, seperti pesan-pesan orang bijak, begitulah sesungguhnya yang harus dilakukan, selalu waspada dan introspeksi diri. Pupuh Ginada    
Jalan hadi pariyatna, ruruh genah sané singid, beli jaga mangastawa, hyang tri yoga sakti iku, mangda Ida manugraha, jaya sakti, sidha molih rananggana. Marilah kita selalu waspada, bersembunyi di tempat yang aman, kanda akan memohon, pada Tuhan pemberi kekuatan, semoga beliau berkenan, menang di dalam peperangan untuk menegakan kebenaran. Let's be on our guard and hide in a safe place, you will ask the Lord for strength, may he grant your wishes, in the midst of the battlefield, to uphold the truth.
(1) Durusang beli gelarang, dharmasatriya mahottami, yadin mangetohang prana, sidha mrejaya isatru, ratun déwi (ratune) bhuh (wibuh) wiwéka, kasub luwih, -/- dumadak kesidhaning don. Silahkan kanda bersiap-siap, layaknya prajurit sejati, walapun harus kehilangan nyawa karena demi mengalahkan musuh, rajanya ilmu kanuragan, terkenal dan sakti, semoga kanda mampu memenang. Now, get yourself ready, like a true warrior, even in the face of probable death, as you have to defeat the enemy, the king in the know of heavenly blessings, famous and of immense spiritual strength, may you win the battle.
(2) Huduh ratu mas jwita, durusang hadi malinggih, Hayu kalér mangiringan, ñujur wreksa majahawu (majagau), hirka raris maña(n)tosang, mangastuti, mamuja déwa pitara. Kamu permata hatiku, silahkan kamu mencari tempat, lantas Ayu Kaler turut perintah, menuju pohon majagau, di sana menunggu, sambil penuh doa, memohon pada para dewa. You are my heart's jem, please find you own place. Then Ayu Kaler followed suit and went to a Majagau tree (Dysoxylum densiflorum), where she waited and prayed to the gods.
Pupuh Durma    
Sampun puput dané Jlantik mangastawa, ngastuti ring Hyang Tri Sakti, tan pasamodana, raris ngunus señjata, mijil geni kadi tatit, tur dumilah, samantara Dalem mijil. Setelah Jelantik memanjatkan doa, memohon pada para dewa, tak lama kemudian keris yang telah digenggamnya dicabut, keluar api seperti kilat dan menyambar-nyambar, tiba-tiba Raja Nusa keluar dari istana. After Jelantik had prayed and beseeched the gods, the keris he was holding was split and out came a striking flame, and the Nusa King came out from his palace.
(1) Kagyat ratu ngaksi tingkah dané ngurah, manganggar kadga uttami, tan patandinganya, mrasa kadi kaprajaya, hagé ida manesekin, saha sojar, manohara sadha lindi. Terkejut Raja Dukut melihat Jelantik menghunus keris sakti, tak ada duanya, merasa akan dikalahkan, lalu Dukut mendekat dan bersabda, pelan namun pasti. The Nusa King was surprised at the sight of Jelantik drawing his 'sakti' keris, there was none like it, and he felt he would loose the battle, and he approached and spoke, slowly but surely:
(2) Cening bagus Ngurah Jlantik pyanak bapa, twah tuwi tuhu jati, dharmaning satriya uttama, maw duwung kabinawa, ngaran Pecok (Péncok) Sahang yukti, nika wantah, marga (margi) sunyané sujati. Jelantik putraku sayang, kamulah yang sesungguhnya kesatria sejati dengan senjata sakti, tak lain bernama Pencok Sahang, sesungguhnya inilah yang akan mengantarkan aku ke sorga. My beloved son Jelantik, you are a true ksatria with a 'sakti' weapon named Pencok Sahang, truly this weapon will lead me the way to the heavens above.
Pupuh Hadri    
Huduh cening Bagus Ngurah Jlantik Bogol, tutur bapané sujati, melahang jwa mamirungu (mengerungu), kondén bapa ka jagat suhung (suwung), hapang tawang katatuanña, cening bagus duhung (ngunus duwung) iku, Sang Hyang Naga Basukih ngaran, Hyang Tohlangkir padrowéanya. Anaku sayang Ngurah Jelantik Bogol, sekarang aku menjelaskan, dengarkan dengan baik, sebelum aku menuju alam surga, agar tahu makna sesungguhanya, (...), bernama Sang Hyang Naga Basuki, milik Sang Hyang Tohlangkir. My beloved child Ngurah Jelantik Bogol, I will presently explain, listen to me carefully: before I die and go up to the heavens above, I ask you to understand the true meaning, (...) his name is Sang Hyang Naga Basuki, owned by Sang Hyang Tohlangkir (at Gunung Agung, mainland Bali).
(1) Durung maniwakang syung Naga Basukiya, hana bisama uttami, maring Bali puri hagung, patut uningayang ring ratu, pidabdab ring Jagat Nusa, hindik hunduk saking dangu, bapa ngawé hayu jagat, twah cirin kaliyuga. Sebelum taring Naga Basuki ditancapkan, Raja Dukut memberi pesan penting untuk disampaikan kepada Raja Bali, kebiasaan yang berlaku di Nusa tentang seluk beluk tradisi yang berlaku, saya (...). Before the Naga Basuki fang hit its target, King Dukut gave the following message to the Bali king: the traditional ways of Nusa, I (...).
(2) Jatinya hana wang masadu ring ratu dalem, bendésa Nusa ka puri, bawang putih ya kasadu, Dalem Watu Rénggong iku, kadalih bapa ring Nusa, mlegandang hanak listuhayu, tur ngawé gamyagamana, maprawreti (maprawerti) seka wenang. Sejatinya ada orang yang melapor kepada Ratu Dalem, seorang Bendesa datang ke istana bernama Bawang Putih, Dalem Waturenggon itu, tersebutlah aku di Nusa, melarikan dan mengawini wanita cantik, selanjutnya disebut melakukan perkawinan terlarang, bertindak sehendak hati. A true man reported to the Balinese King, a bendesa called Bawang Putih ('Garlic') came to the palace of Waturenggong: I am from Nusa, ran away and married a lovely woman, and then I was accused of making the mistake of marrying illegitimately, but I followed my heart.
(3) Bapa twah tuhu sadhu dharmaning nagara, manut bisama Hyang Langkir, nabdab Nusa sidha landuh, tegal carik padhamupu, warga subak padha girang, padha ngepah jalan bañu, tan kinirang sandang pangan, pañjak sami kawibuhan. Sayalah raja yang baik dan selalu menjalankan kewajiban sebagai seorang pemimpin, sesuai perintah Sanghyang Tohlangkir, menata Nusa agar sejahtera, sawah dan kebun agar menghasilkan, semua petani pada senang, membagi air secara merata, sehingga tak pernah kekurangan sandang pangan, masyarakatnya semua sejahtera. I am a good king and always respect my responsibilities as a ruler, according to the wishes of Sanghyang Tohlangkir, to bring Nusa back to a state of happiness, in order for the rice paddies and farmers' grounds to be productive, now all the farmers are content, they divide the available water, and no-one is short of food, all the people are happy.
(4) Swadarma sang Prabhu ngawé sukertaning jagat, pasar sumur patutu hugi, genah mahadolan manuku, toya sémér syang dalu, -/- sahi hanggon ring pumahan, tan /74/ kahanan tuna bañu, hapan sampun hébek toya, mangun priyangan (prahyangan) lan jro. Kewajiban seorang raja memberikan kedamaian wilayahnya, pasar, sumur harus ada, tempat menjual hasil taninya, air yang dibutuhkan siang malam selalu ada, yang akan sering dipakai di rumah, jangan sampai kekurangan air, karena sudah cukup persediaan air, membangun tempat suci dan rumah. The responsibility of a king is to give peace to his realm: markets and wells should be there, as well as places to sell farmers' products, water should be available day and night, often used in people's homes, water scarcity is out of the question, and the construction of holy places and homes.
(5) Dréda bakti ring déwa pitara makabéhan, hana panugrahan kawi, maring jagat Nusa sampun, maletik sarwa tinandur, murah sarw(a) tinuk(u)wa, seger waras pada hanut, tan hana rasa pikobet, sampun hantar jagat Nusa. Selalu memuja leluhur semua, ada pemberian (...), kini di wilayah Nusa, yang ditanam tumbuh subur dan selalu berbuah, warganya hidup sehat dan taat, tidak pernah kesulitan, kini Nusa semuanya lancar. Everybody's ancestors should be revered (...) now in Nusa, what is planted should grow in a fertile way and produce fruit, the people should live healthy and regular lives, and never experience adversity, now Nusa is in a good condition.
Pupuh Sinom    
Jani bapa ñaritayang, Sad kahyangan Nusa yukti, hapan Nusa tan kawawa, maring Ida Ratu Bali, Dalem Ped maka sujati, sampun koptah saking dangu, Batu Dawu maring Purwa, ring genahan pura malih, Tuñjuk Pusuh, ring daksina Pura Sahab. Sekarang ayah menceritakan tentang keberadaan enam pura, karena Nusa tidak dikuasai oleh Raja Bali, salah satunya adalah Pura Ped yang sudah terkenal sejak dulu, di sebelah timur ada Pura Batumedau, ada juga tempat pura, Pura Tunjuk Pusuh di sebelah selatan Pura Sahab. Now 'father' recounts about the six temples, as Nusa has never been ruled by a Balinese king: there is Pura Ped, a renowned temple since times immemorial; to the east there is Pura Batumedau, and other temples: in the south there is Pura Tunjuk Pusuh and Pura Sahab.

Di sebelah barat Pura Panida, di tengah bukit Pura Mundi, Dewi Rohini berstana, namanya Bukit Cemeng yang berhadapan dengan Pura Besakih, atas restu Sanghyang Tohlangkir dibangunnya enam pura di Nusa, agar di tempat pemujaan, dari dulu membuat kedamaian di Nusa. In the west there is Pura Panida, in the centre there is Pura Mundi, where Dewi Rohini is revered, called Bukit Cemeng facing Pura Besakih (on mainland Bali), blessed by Sanghyang Tohlangkir the six temples on Nusa were constructed, meant to bring peace from these places to Nusa.
(2) Kayun bapa sada hérang, Dalem Sawang mastu nguni, ditu bapa nungkayakang, wadah toya Danu Mundi, meliyah ka tegal carik, tukadé hebeking bañu, satwa wana pada girang, sastra widnya ratu yukti, kéto tuhu, ngelimbakang indra brata. Saya masih merasa dendam, saat ini Nusa akan aku kutuk dan tumpahkan, danau yang ada di Mundi, airnya tumpah ruah ke sawah perkebunan, sungai-sungai semua dialiri, tumbuh-tumbuhan dan binatang yang ada bersuka cita, benar-benar seorang raja yang hebat, begitulah orang yang melaksanakan ilmu kepemimpinan (asta brata). I still feel revengeful, and presently I will curse Nusa and make its lake at Mundi spill its water to the farmers' rice fields, flowing through all the rivers, the plants and animals there will experience sorrow, a truly great king acting according to the eight leadership qualities called 'asta brata'.
(4*) Tan Ratu tuna wiwéka, para jana napi mailh, mangrusak wawidanganya, taru pada ya tinindih, jurang pangkung sami haking, pañjak kadura désa rarud, padha ngulah upajiwa, di gumi anaké ngempil, ditu durus, éling ring kaluhuranya. Jika seorang pemimpin tidak pintar, apalagi masyarakatnya, merusak alam linkungannya, pohon-pohonan saling bertumpuk, jurang dan lembah semua pada kering, penduduknya meninggalkan desa untuk berpindah, semua berharap penghidupan yang baru, tinggalah mereka di lingkungan orang, akhirnya menetap, tetapi selalu ingat pada leluhurnya. If a leader is not intelligent, let alone his people, the natural surroundings will be destroyed, the trees will pile up, the valleys will dry out, the people will desert their villages and move elsewhere in search of a new life, but in spite of this they will always remember their ancestors.
(5) Hana bwat pebesen bapa, ring ida ratuning Bali, kahyangan Jagat ring Nusa, uttama Dalem Ped wiyakti (yukti), ring Ratu Gedé Macaling, kajana nuraga sampun, sakti wisésa ring jagat, pañjak ida sami bhakti, mangda manut, pangaci sasih pamekas. Sekarang aku berpesan kepada Raja Bali, pura kahyangan jagad di Nusa, utamanya Dalem Ped, yaitu Ratu Gede Mecaling yang sudah sangat terkenal akan kesaktiannya, masyarakatnya semua bakti, asalkan sesuai melaksanakan ritual secara periodik. Now I call on the Balinese King, regarding the most important temples on Nusa (kahyangan jagad), namely the famous Ratu Gede Mecaling, as he is possession of exceptional spiritual power, that all the people worship him and perform regular periodical ceremonies.
(6) Sasih kartika kalima, pangaci sasih ngawitin, kenem kapitu haja lupa, kawuluné napi mailh, ring kajeng kliwon pingit, masoda ban skul jagung, jajangané dawun kélor, sambel bawang jahé hugi, maha himbuh, uyah areng mahasrana. Pada waktu sasih kalima dimulainya hari piodalan, Sasih kemen dan kapitu jangan lupa, begitu pula pada sasih kawulu, pada waktu hari Kajeng Kliwon, menghaturkan nasi jagung dengan sayuran daun kelor, sambal bawang dan jahe ditambah lagi garam secukupnya. During the months of October and November, (Balinese) Piodalan should be celebrated (sixth to eighth month), falling on Kajeng Kliwon, in order not to forget to offer corn nasi with vegetables and 'kelor' (Moringa oleifera), sambal made of unions and ginger with just a pinch of salt.
(7) Di lebuhé kahaturang, sangah cukcuk daging pajati, -/- hangén ñomya hiwong samar, /75/ mangda tan mangawé gring, raris margi ñatur gumi, dasa désa né katuju, nuréksa pangaci désa, yaning piwal maring hidik, nika patut, wong samaré nguragada. Di halaman rumah juga dihaturkan sanggah cucuk berisi pejati dipakai sarana menghilangkan makhluk jahat supaya tidak berbuat jahat, diikuti juga di wilayah desa melihat rangkaian upakara, bila tidak melaksanakan yadnya, iyulah yang harus diganggu oleh makhluk jahat. In the house yards, offerings should be made in the form of 'sanggah cucuk' with 'pejati' as a way of getting rid of evil beings, and this ceremony should be performed in every village; if this 'yadnya' ceremony is not performed, the consequence is that this village will be disturbed by evil beings.
(8) Dukuh Jumpungan winursitan, buyut saking Gdé Macaling, dané ring Jambu Dwipa, hyang guruné (Ni) Mrenggi (Mranggi) yukti, ring Tkad Gangga marabi, mijil Hyang Kalimun Mumbul, kahurip ring Hyang Tri Murtya, mangda dadi manusa jati, Dukuh Jumpung, balyan sakti tur wisésa. Diceritakan seorang pendeta Dukuh Jumpungan namanya, leluhurnya Ratu Gede Mecaling, beliau tinggal di Jawa, juga leluhurnya Ni Mranggi, menikah ke Sungai Gangga, keluarlah Hyang Kalimun Mumbul, dihidupkan oleh Sanghyang Tri Murti, agar menjadi manusia sesungguhnya, Dukuh Jumpungan juga seorang dukun sakti. It is told that a lay priest by the name of Dukuh Jumpungan, ancestor of Ratu Gede Mecaling, residing in Java, also the ancestor of Ni Mranggi, married the Gangga River and out came Hyang Kalimun Mumbul, given life by Sanghyang Tri Murti for him to become a true human being; Dukuh Jumpungan was also a person of exceptional spiritual power.
(9) Dukuh Jumpungan merabya, sareng Ni Mrih histri luwih, maputra I Mraja nunggal, Ni Lundah kahanggén rabi, mijil I Kundur sawiji, temu tangan Lumikundur, Rénggan maka sutanya, merabyan Rénggan Mrihim, Gotra sunu, Ratu Gdé Macaling Nusa. Dukuh Jumpungan menikah dengan Ni Mrih istri yang pandai dan berputra tunggal bernama I Mraja, beristrikan I Lundah, lahirlah I Kundur satu-satunya, kemudian dia beristrikan dengan Lumikundur, mempunyai seorang anak bernama I Renggan, kemudian I Renggan menikah dengan I Mrihim, melahirkan I Gotra, dialah Ratu Gede Mecaling. Dukuh Jumpungan married Ni Mrih, an intelligent wife and they begat one son called I Mraja, who took as his wife I Lunda, and an only son named I Kundur was born; he married Lumikundur and begat a child by the names of I Renggan; I Renggan married I Mrihim with whom he begat a son named I Gotra, otherwise known as Ratu Gede Mecaling.
(10) Ratu dukuné kahucap, Dukuh Jumpungan maka yukti, mangun lorlohan (loloan) ring Panida, nganggén naka wresani, hapan panugrahan sandi, Bhagawan Wiswakarma iku, turing sidhi mahosada, Sang Hyang Swinodéwa (Swina Dewa) jati, sidhi kasub, balyan swargané kahucap. Raja Dukuh itu adalah Dukuh Jumpungan yang sebenarya, dan membangun saluran air (untuk perahu lewat) di Penida, dari kuku saktinya adalah anugrah rahasia, dari Begawan Wiswakarma, beliau juga sakti dalam ilmu pengobatan, atas anugrah Sanghyang Swino Dewa, yang terkenal sakti di sorga dalam ilmu pengobatan. In reality, King Dukuh was the same as Dukuh Jumpungan and he constructed waterways in Penida, his claws (nails) were a secret gift from from Begawan Wiswakarma, who also was particularly gifted in the art of healing because of Sanghyang Swino Dewa, famous for his exceptional spiritual strength in the high heavens in the art of healing.
(11) Yan sang dukun mañaratang, sidhi ngucap mantra sandi, patut nunas panugrahan, ring Ratu Gdé Macaling, wantah hIda mahosadi, sudha (sidha) sudha sidhi sadhu, mabuyut ring Dukuh Jumpungan, nika wantah ida sakti, maka sumbung, rawuh maring nusantara. Jika seorang dukun memerlukan sakti dan bertuah apa yang diucapkan, mesti memohon anugrah, dengan Ratu Gede Mecaling, hanya beliaulah yang mahir ilmu pengobatan, berhasil dengan baik karna bertuah, Dukuh Jumpungan adalah leluhur Ratu Gede Mecaling karenanya sangat sakti, sudah terkenal sampai ke seluruh nusantara. If a traditional healer (dukun) is in need of special spiritual qualities, he should ask for heavenly blessings from Ratu Gede Mecaling as he is the only one to master this art, since he has special qualities of this kind; Dukuh Jumpungan is the forefather of Ratu Gede Mecaling as he is especially 'sakti', famous in all of Bali.
(12) Hawanannya dura (dora) désa, pedek nangkil Gdé Macaling, hapan sampun Ida swéca, yang sang dukun mangewidhi, sidhi mahosadi yukti, nika jatinya kasumbung, yan ñungsung tapakanida, pang becik ngaturang haci, manut hunduk, ring kecap aji agama. Karena itu orang-orang luar desa, banyak yang datang untuk memohon anugrah, banyak yang sudah beliau berikan, jika dukun tersebut rajin memohon, pastilah sakti dalam ilmu pengobatan, itulah yang sesungguhnya menjadikan dukun itu terkenal, apalagi memuja wujud beliau di rumah, akan lebih baik jika disertai persembahan, sesuai aturan yang ada pada sastra agama. As a consequence, many people from outside the village come and ask for his blessing and are granted these wishes; if the dukun knows how to ask for these gifts, surely these gifts in the art of healing are granted and will make him a famous healer, especially if he asks for these gifts at home, better still if accompanied by prayers and offerings according to established religious ways.
Pupuh Ginada    
Yan ñungsung patapakan (tetapelan), marupa hangker mataring, pangawastan Dalem Nusa, sakti kabinawa kasub, hapan sampun saking lawas, Gdé Macaling, panugrahan Ida Hyang Ludra. Jika memuja wujud beliau (berupa topeng) berwajah seram dan bertaring, permohonannya pada Dalem Nusa, terkenal karena kesaktiannya yang luar biasa sejak dulu, yang juga terkenal dengan sebutan Gede Mecaling atas anugrah Sanghyang Ludra. (1) Hada bwat pinunas bapa, di subané bapa mulih, pratéka jiwa layon Bapa, tiwa-tiwa kadi ratu, mabadhé (ma)tumpang solas, solas warni, magamet menagha bandha. -/- Ada permintaanku kepadamu, setelah nanti aku tiada, uruslah ragakua yang tiada berjiwa, laksanakan upacara ngaben layaknya raja, mempergunakan bade bertingkat sebelas, sebelas warna, memakai kapas dan menaga banda. I have been asked, after I have gone, to arrange for my dead body to be cremated as befits a king, using a cremation tower of eleven layers and eleven colours, made of cotton (kapas) and adorned with the mythological serpent 'nagabanda',
(2) /76/ Makekitir tur mahuñcal, mabalé silunglung luwih, kreb kajang sastra uttama, lembu tanduk mas mamungkul, mahungkur mwah maligya, ñagara ukir, wenang sungsung pañjak Nusa. penuh dengan manfaat kerohaian (makekitir => kirti = manfaat kerohanian) dan ber-'uncal' (uncal Java kuno: ular-ular, panji-panji, jumbai, rumbai, gunjai, malai), dengan 'bale silunglung' berkelas, atap (kreb), kain kafan bertulis sastra utama, tanduk lembu dari emas, mahungkur (hungkur = punggung) dan upacara kematian akhir (maligia; ceremony during the last stage of death), patung penjaga ('nyagara' jaga, nyaga = menjaga, mengawasi; guard, care, watch), wajib disembah warga Nusa. also with the benefit of the spiritual strength (kakekitir, -> kirti?) and festooned with banners (panji, snakes), with a building used in an emergency, especially decorated with offerings to the ancestors (bale silunglung) of high class, with a roof (kreb) and a shroud inscribed with special characters, golden cow horns, a special backdrop (hungkur) and a closing ceremony for the dead called 'maligia' and a statue of a watchman (nyagara), all should be offered by the inhabitants of Nusa.

Ada tiga penyebab keberhasilan upacara, 1).yajamana adalah yang punya hajat, 2) miniwidya yang ahli dalam perlengkapan upacara demikian dituliskan dalam sastra agama dan 3) sadaka yang tak dilupakan pendeta pengantar jalannya upacara, terdiri dari pendeta siwa, budha dan bujangga, yang sungguh-sungguh, mahir dalam segala weda. There are three conditions for the success of this ceremony: 1) 'yajamana' for ceremonial feast, 2) 'miniwidya', the masters of ceremony able to write special religious characters, and 3) religious experts (sadaka) and siwa, budah and bujangga priests who are truly knowledgeable in matters concerning the Weda.
(4) Sampun puput hupacara, rajabranané gumanti, sami katur Dalem Énggong, salwir mas manik murub, mirah adhi warna habang, mahotami, kalih gelung keñcana mirah. Setelah berakhirnya upacara, semua harta benda milik kerajaan diserahkan habis pada Waturenggong, segala jenis emas dan bermata yang bercahaya, ada juga jenis permata utama berwarna merah, sangat menakjubkan, juga mahkota dengan permata. After the ceremony, all of the royal possessions shall be returned to King Waturenggong, all golden objects and precious stones; also, there are especially amazing red jewels and the crown with jewels.
(5) Gong habarung mwang gubar, simsim petang puluh siki, bhrumawanda kéhnya dasa, guci nagha pinggang (punggang) (rua) halus, macitra bwaya mwang patma, sami lwih, kawindrana makawotan. Musik gamelan seperangkat dan gubar, empat puluh simsim, sepuluh brumawanda, guci naga dan mangkok yang berkualitas, bermotif buaya dan teratai, semuanya yang utama, kawindrana makawotan. Gamelan instruments and oblong drums beaten with sticks or war drums (gubar/kendang), forty rings, ten 'brumawanda', quality serpent tempayans and mugs adorned with crocodiles and lotus flower motifs, all of them of excellent quality 'kawindrana makawotan'.
(6) Pangabih bapa niskala, marupa wong samar sami, hempat belas tali kwéhnya, ring ratu bali kahatur, hanggon manindihin jagat, nika sami, mraga sakala niskala. Pengawalku yang tak nampak, berupa wong samar semua, empat belas ribu jumlahnya, semua diserahkan pada raja bali, sebagai membela negara, itu semua, berwujud tampak dan tak tampak. My invisible followers, the 14,000 'wong samar', are all to be given to the King of Bali, to defend the nation, be they visible or not.
(7) Ménget Bapa maring kuna, bapa mula sakti lewih, hapan tan sidha tumanah, salwir (seluwir) tampaking palu, magda (pandé) lewih karyan nikang, tanmintuhin, sañjata ring wilatikta. Ingat aku waktu dulu, aku adalah sakti, karenanya tak mempan semua senjata hasil pande (ahli membuat senjata), walaupun seorang pande yang hebat, juga yang berasal dari majapahit. I remember the olden days when I had spiritual strength, when I was invulnerable to weapons made by the Pande Caste, although the Pande were very strong, as they came from Majapahit.
(8) Hapan pengendaning déwa, Hyang Tohlangkir mangawidhi, mangredana padang kasna, krana dukut ñelebungkut, ditu (Bapa) dwi haranya, rawuh mangkin, dukut bungkut tana liyan. Karena semua dari anugerah para dewa, Sanghyang Tohlangkir lalu menciptakan, dengan sarana rumput kasna, lahirlah sosok seorang Dukut (Bungkut), sehingga dua diberi nama, sampai sekarang, ada yang menyebut Dukut dan ada pula yang menyebut Bungkut. As to the gods' wishes, Sanghyang Tohlangkir from the kasna weed created a man called 'Dukut' (Bungkut), and his name to this day creates confusion as there are those who call him 'Dukut' and those who call him 'Bungkut'.
(9) Huduh cening Bagus Ngurah, durusang hugi kawitin, pinaka duta uttama, ñuhun (ñuun) wacana sang prabhu, haja marma maring idhep, tulus jati, harsa Bapa ring idéwa. Wahai kecil anakku Bagus Ngurah, silahkan kau mulai sebagai utusan utama, melaksanakan perintah raja, jangan lagi kamu merasa kawatir, iklaskanlah hatimu, aku siap memenuhi keinginanmu. Oh my small child Bagus Ngurah, my prime envoy, please implement the royal command, don't you worry, follow your heart, I am willing to follow your desire.
(10) Singgih ratu sang dharmika, sisip tityang dados jadmi, purun ring sang mraga dharma, mogi swasrga (suarga) pangguh ratu, lunguh méruné (meruning( utama, mraga jati, nunggal ring déwa pitara. Tuanku yang maha bijaksana, salah hamba menjadi masusia berani kepada orang berbuat kebajikan, semoga mendapatkan sorga utama, bersetana pada meru utama, menyatu kepada leluhur. My lord full of wisdom, I am but a humble man, brave enough to convey goodness to mankind, may you reach the highly heavens and reach the highest meru (Balinese temple roofed building) and unite with your ancestors.
Pupuh Durma    
Tulus kayun raris mañudukang kadga, maring ratu Dalem sakti, -/- mijil rudira /77/ muncrat, hudan madres tan pasangkan, metu suganda sugandi, sami rana, mangesirsir ngulangunin. Dengan ketulusan hati lanjut menghujamkan senjata kepada Ratu Dalem Nusa yang sakti, menemburlah darah, diriringi hujan lebat tidak tahu asalnya, keluar smerbak wangi, angin berhembus sepoi-sepoi. Filled with the goodness of his heart, he gave his weapons to the holy King of Nusa, with much bloodshed and rainfall from who knows where, there was flower fragrance and a gentle wind.
(1) Cihna ratu sadhu dharma kérti yasa, ketug linuh (lindu) kilat tatit, prabhawa swabhawa, humung swaraning bramara, lwir bajra reéng (reseng) langit, mangastawa, puji puji sang uttami. Itu adalah tanda-tanda kematian seorang raja besar, mendadak terjadi gempa dibarengi petir bergemuruh, kematian seorang raja penuh wibawa dan disegani, suara tawon lebah dan sejenisnya ikut meramaikan, seperti alunan suara bajra dari langit, mengucapkan doa, puja pujinya sang pendeta. Those were the signs of the death of a great ruler, and suddenly there was a great earthquake and lightning struck form the heavens, caused by the death of a charismatic and feared ruler, the sound of honeybees and the likes were also there, as if the sound of the priest's bell (bajra) from the skies above launched their prayers to the priests (below).
(2) Rwang hatus pengiring dané Jlantik Ngurah, pañjak sam(a)i padha sakti (bakti), mangaturang hayah, nabdab karya palebonan, bahudandha mantri sami, sampun jangkep, kadi bisamaning nguni. Dua ratus pengikutnya ngurah jelantik dan juga warga Nusa semua pada tunduk, ikut bergotong royong, menyelesaikan pekerjaan dalam rangka upacara ngaben, demikian pula para pembesar kerajaan, semua lengkap, mengikuti perintah sebelumnya. Two hundred of Jelantik's followers and the inhabitants of Nusa submitted and involved in mutual discussions (gotong royong) regarding the cremation ceremony, and also the royal officials followed the order expressed previously.
(3) Syang dalu mangun karya tan rérénan, ngawé lega tukang sangging, ñetokang kabisan, padha ngamongin pakaryan, badené tegeh maninggil, mamudra mas, malebu cemeng lintang luwih. Siang malam bekerja tanpa henti, dengan perasaan gembira juga sangging (senuman undagi + ukir), pada memperlihatkan kepandaiannya, masing-masing fokus pada bidangnya, badenya (tinggi sekali, diujungnya ornamen dari emas, tempat memasukan jenasah berwujud lembu hitam). Day and night they worked continuously in high spirits to show off their special expertise, they focussed on their own gifts, the 'bade' (cremation tower) was very high with golden ornaments featuring a lofty black cow.
(4) Sampun koptah palebonan Dalem Nusa, makwéh padha selat tasik, mangda mañihnayang, kaluwihan Dalem Nusa, réh kasumbung duké (duking) nguni, kaya brana, ditu padha mamuji. Sungguh sangat terkenal upacara ngabennya sang raja nusa, banyak mereka yang dari seberang laut pada datang, untuk membuktikan kesetiannya, pada keagungan Raja Nusa, yang sudah terkenal sejak dulu, juga kaya dengan arta benda, semua memuji keagungan beliau. The cremation ceremony for the Nusa King was very well-known, and many from across (mainland Bali?) came to pay their respects to the famous Nusa King, with all of his royal heirlooms, all came to pay hommage to his greatness.
Pupuh Gambuh    
Mayajña sampun puput, tan caritha lawas Jlantik sampun, maring Jagat Nusa sareng (wadwa) sami, gumanti pacang mawangsul, medek Dalem Waturénggong. Setelah selesai upacara, tak berapa lama Ngurah Jelantik, ada di Nusa dengan pasukannya, berencana akan kembali, menghadap sang raja bali Dalem Waturenggong. When the ceremony was finished, Jelantik on Nusa with his army planned to return to (mainland) Bali to speak to King Waturenggong.
(1) Tan kocapan ring hnu, prapta ring kakisik (Nusa) sampun, hanungkap palwa masemu guyu sami, halayar bahita dulur, samirana ñirsir halon. Tak berselang lama, beliau tiba di tepi laut, dengan senang hati mempersiapkan perahunya, perahunya melaju kencang, karena layarnya ditiup angin sesuai arah. Not long afterwards, he arrived at the beach, and happily prepared his proa, as his proa had sailed according to the prevailing winds.
(2) Tan swé sampun rawuh, maring Kusamba raris tumedun, mamargi kulwan ñujur jro puri, kancit rawuh ring panguntur, hébek tinangkil ring jro. Tidak lama sudah datang di Kusamba akhirnya turun berjalan ke barat menuju istana, akhirnya datang di istana, banyak yang telah menunggu. Patih Jelantik mengawali dengan salam sembahnya, dengan ucapan yang pelan dan lembut, hamba mohon ampun sri baginda raja, ijinkan saya, cukup lama saya berada di Nusa, sekali lagi maafkan saya, tentu tak berkenan di hati paduka. Jelantik offered his wishes of goodwill, slowly and softly: I offer you my humble wishes of goodwill to you, my King, please forgive me for spending this amount of time on Nusa, it surely is not to your majesty's wishes.
(1) Bagya kita wahu (wawu) prapta, holih ñaya satru sakti, hapa ginawa ring nusa, raja brana sampun kasub, padrewyan (padroweyan) Dalem Nusa, kéto jati, Ngurah Jlantik humatura. Betapa senangnya diriku atas kedatangan mu, apalagi mampu mengalahkan musuh, dengan bawaan dari Nusa, semua harta benda yang sangat dikagumi itu milik raja Nusa, begitu sesungguhnya, lalu Jelanti kembali mengutarakan maksudnya pada raja. How happy I am to see you here, especially since you have vanquished the enemy and the gifts from Nusa, all of them revered gifts from the Nusa King; then, Jelantik explained what happened in Nusa to the King.
(2) Tuhu kadi pawacana (pawencana), gumanti tityang ngaturin, gong sabarung mwang gubar, simsim jinar petang puluh, bruma wanda kéhnya dasa, pinggan kalih, macitra bwaya mwang padma. Syukurlah semua berjalan sesuai perintah paduka, dengan tulus saya serahkan seperangkat gamelan dan gubar, simsim jinar empat puluh, brumawanda yang jumlahnya sepuluh, pinggan dua, bergambar buaya, dan teratai. All went according to your royal wishes: I give you these gamelan instruments and 'gubar', fourty 'simsim jinar', ten 'brumawanda', with decorations of crocodile and lotus flowers.
(3) Guci (rwa) macitra naga, padyusan Ratu Bungkut nguni, -/- , hempat belas tali wong samar, /78/ nika wantah sami katur, tan wénten malih lyanan, sampun sami, raja brana saking Nusa. Guci bergambar naga, padyusan Raja Bungkut, juga pasukan wong samar empat belas ribu, semua ini saya serahkan paduka, tidak ada lagi yang lain, sudah semua, bawaan yang saya dapatkan dari Nusa, silahkan paduka ambil. The tempayans depicted with serpents, (...) of King Bungkut, and also 14,000 wong samar, all of these I give to you, this is all I took from Nusa, please take it.
Pupuh Durma    
Dalem Baturénggong pawuwuse banggras, éh yé kita Ngurah Jlantik, tan tuhu ujarta, dané Jlantik humatura, sawiji tan hana malih, sampun telas, kahatur ring sri bhupati. Tiba-tiba raja menyahut dengan nada tinggi, eh (...) kamu Jelantik, tidak tepat apa yang kau ucapkan, lantas Jeantik menyela, satupun tidak ada lagi yang tertinggal, sudah semua, saya serahkan pada paduka. Suddenly, the king answered: ehm, Jelantik, what you said is not right; then Jelantik said that all had been given, everything was there and I've given it all to you.
(1) Liñok kapo kita Jlantik ring manira, hapan hana mahutami, kawindra hanama, kawotan sinembar mirah, ika tan katur kapuri, hapan katon, caya (chaya) murubing kawotin (kawotan). Kamu telah berbohong padaku Jelantik, ada lagi yang lebih penting, bernama kawindra, batu permata, yang itu belum kau persembahkan padaku, karenanya bercahaya menyala-nyala. You lied to me, Jelantik, there are more important things such as the kawindra, a precious stone, you haven't given it to me yet, as it shines.
(2) Pinendem kita ring kakisik Kusamba, murub caya (chaya) kawot(an) ngendih, kadulu manira, hapan mijil sakeng kilat, tan wenang kita ngraksi, jala dahat, dharma satriyané paheging (pagehang). Kau timbun permata itu di pantai Kusamba, bercahaya terlihat menyala, ketika aku bergeser ke utara, muncullah cahaya seperti petir, tidak sepantasnya kamu memilikinya, berisiko lakukan saja kewajibanmu sebagai kesatria sejati. Pupuh Ginada    
Dané Jlantik ñesel raga, mrasa langgya ring haji, tan pageh ngembah sinatriya, hampurayang tityang ratu, misadya tityang mangaturang, kadi mangkin, hambil tityang ring Kusamba. Jelantik menyesali dirinya, karena merasa diri berani berbohong pada perintah, tidak setia sebagai seorang prajurit, maafkan saya paduka, saya akan persembahkan saat ini, saya mau ambil di pantai Kusamba. Jelantik was sorry, as he realised he ignored a command and had not been a faithful soldier; forgive me my Lord, I will presently give you what is left on Kusamba beach.
(1) Tan kocapan sampun prapta, dané ngurah maring puri, kadi harsa kayun Dalem, kawindra kawotan kahatur, lengleng tumon sri naréndra, mahottami, sinembar(an) ratnadi sara (kara). Tidak diceritakan kini telah tiba, Ngurah Jelantik di istana, sesuai permintaan raja, kawindra yang diinginkan, baginda sungguh tercengang, menakjubkan, (...) It is not told how he arrived at the beach, Ngurah Jelantik returned to the palace according to the King's wishes, and he brought the kawindra, and the king was stupefied (...)
(2) Wong puri sami mañingak, kawotan macahya ngendih, ditu padha mañumbungang, Ratu Dalem Nusa kasub, sakti wibuh wara guna, né sejati, sangkan tan wani wong campah. Kawindra hanama kawotan, pecanangan mahottami, druwén Ratu Dalem Nusa, mijil saking kilat yukti, nika wantah saking nguni, raja brana Dalem Bungkut, sampun katur bali raja, rawuh Jagat Nusa malih, nika patut, ratu Bali ngupapira. Kawindra namanya, tempat sirih (nginang) yang indah, punyanya raja nusa muncul dari petir, keberadaannya sudah sejak lama, salah satu barang kebanggan sang raja, sekarang sudah diserahkan pada raja bali, demikian juga Nusa daerah kekuasaannya, ini wajib dipelihara oleh raja bali.
