Dialect accommodation (Dhanawaty, 2004)

The article 'Theory on dialect accommodation' (Teori Akomodasi dalam Penelitian Dialektologi) by Ni Made Dhanawaty (Udayana University, 2004) dicusses the linguistic accommodation between transmigrant languages, amongst which Nusa Penida dialect speakers and their fellow-cohabitants in Banjar Lampung, Sumatra. The dialect of Nusa Penida is classified as an archaic and rather coarse Bali Aga dialect, and as such it is found to adapt rapidly to other dialects and languages, amongst others (Tabanan) Balinese and Javanese by fellow transmigrants. Kata Majemuk (Suweta, 1986)

I Made Suweta in 1986 wrote a University Thesis on linguistics called 'Compound words in Nusa Penida Dialect of the Balinese language, a desriptive study, at Literature Department, Udayana University, Denpasar, Bali (Kata Majemuk Bahasa Bali Dialek Nusa Penida: Sebuah Telaah Deskriptif; Fakultas Sastra, Universitas Udayana Denpasar).

Morphology of Nusa Penida dialect (Darma Laksana, 1977)

Professor I Ketut Darma Laksana, Department of Linguistics, Faculty of letters at Udayana University at Denpasar-Bali (August 2013), has been so kind to share with the author his thesis on Nusa Penida dialect, published 27 May 1977. He discusses, amongst other issues, the similarities and differences as compared to standard Balinese. He also refers to the differences with Lembongan dialect. Additional remarks by author God Dijkman have been introduced in square brackets.

Guru Besar I Ketut Darma Laksana, Departemen Bahasa, Jurusan Sastra di Universitas Udayana, Denpasar-Bali (Agustus 2013), telah membagi dengan penulis tesisnya mengenai Dialek Nusa Penida, tertanggal 27 Mai 1977. Beliau membicarakan, antara lain, persamaan dan perbedaan Dialek Nusa Penida kalau dibandingkan dengan Bahasa Bali Baku. Peninjauan tambahan oleh penulis Godi Dijkman dimasukkan pada kurung 'square brackets'.

Below article by I Made Madia is a rendering of his work called "Variations within the Phonology System of Balinese used in Nusa Penida, a Structural Dialectology Research. Madia published his findings with the Language Research (Department), Language Development Centre of the "Departemen Pendidikan dan Kebubadayaan", Singaraja, 1984.
